Q: I have a case coming up and I have to find some legal advice or representation. This is for a SSDI adjustment or review.

It's for overpayment. How much does it usually cost to have representation for this kind of case.

Why not ask legal aid? For this type of thing there is often a fee if you use a private attorney. You need to explain why recoupment woiuld be "against equity and good conscience."

Unless your e bay activities become "substantial gainful activity" it would have no significant effect.

Q: My Mother in law and her husband reside in a senior housing community. He is now hospitalized and

will be admitted to a nursing home. They are both collecting S.S benefits and he has a workers comp settlement in a bank in both of their names. We need to know if she is entitled to half of that money from the workers comp and also part of his SS benefits to live on.

If the money is in a joint account, it belongs to both of them regardless of the initial source of the money.

No, it will not. An inheritance is not considered income, so it wouldn't affect your income tax either.

You need to provide more information. I know of no new law that would require you to hire additional lawyers for an SSI claim. Contact the Social Security Administration to verify if you want a second opinion on what your lawyer is telling you.
