There could be several problems here. You may not have been paid for hours worked. More importantly perhaps, do you feel change of pay and schedule was due to characteristics of a protected class such as age, race or gender? Were you retaliated against for engaging in protected activities, like... View More

Q: As a federal employee am I allowed to start a petition with fellow employees in regards to retention bonus equality?

I am wanting to do a peaceful petition in regards to retention bonus that was only awarded to RN bedside nurses and no other bedside positions. I am not aware of anything prohibiting federal employees from engaging in concerted activities. These are activities designed to bring about improved working conditions, salary, etc.

Q: I'm a minor in Florida, who just got fired for accidentally missing a shift that I didn't know about. I am being fired.

My job claimed that I had a write-up which I didn't physically receive/ or SIGN and they didn't acknowledge me about the write-up until they fired me. Could they get in trouble for this? I don't think that this is fair, I really need the job.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as "respectful workplace confidentiality." It may be poor form, but there is nothing I can see fro what is here that was illegal.

Unfortunately, it is allowed. Sure there were other options they could have gone with. They are allowed to make business decisions to fire you, even if they are poor or mistaken. They cannot fire you for discriminatory intentional reasons based on characteristics of a protected class.

The question is a little hard to understand, but I am afraid the short answer is yes. The employer can make a poor decision to fire you, but as long as it was not a discriminatory intent based on protected class characteristics, they are allowed to make that business decision.
