Q: Bought a boat, private sale for $3200. Used it twice before discovering a major issue with the motor. Cost to fix is 2K.

Seller won't return our money. What is the likelihood that we will win in small claims?

If the boat was new and came with a warranty, you may have a valid claim.

If the boat was used and was sold as-is, it is unlikely you have a valid claim.

Other than requesting that your son receive a new phone that doesn't catch fire, there would not be any damages to claim.
