Q: Went to Computer Systems Institute, IL. Did not receive both certs, job placement, etc. Do I have a suit against them?

They recently lost financing from the government. Did not receive proper training or promised education. Did not receive job placement. Just want to know if CIS can be held accountable for the repayment of the government student loan for failure to follow through on their end of a contract.

If your educational institution obligated itself to give proper training and deliver job placement, but did neither, then yes, you have a case. There is no way to guarantee you will not be sued. Not to mention, if you were negligent, you should be sued. Just make sure to have your own insurance as well.

What you should do is sit down with a local attorney who handles media law and has experience with publishing. That way they can cover all of your basis. An ounce of prevention saves a pound of flesh (or something like that).

Q: I bought a casket 11/2012 the funeral home opened it 8/2015 to find mold inside. Casket was unusable.

In TX many suits must be brought within 2 years after the dispute arose, others must be brought within 4 years. My question is when does the dispute date actually start.

The tools are not yours. Talk to a local business, contracts or consumer protection lawyer. Some states have agencies where consumers can seek help with issues regarding contractors (for example, in AZ, it's the Registrar of Contractors -- the agency the licenses contractors).

Q: Can a file a police report, for a gym that closed its doors and will not refund my money for a membership?

The owner of the gym, owns other gyms and will not return my calls or emails.

The police do not handle civil matters. If the gym has declined to refund your money you might need to file a law suit against them. However, sometimes a letter from an attorney can be enough for them to refund your money. Feel free to call for a free consultation.

Q: Dispute with a contract

I hired a small company did a $5000 granite countertops job more than 6 months ago. One piece came out in wrong size. While the company keeps on saying they will replace the piece, but nothing has happened and I doubt anything will ever happen after hearing countless excuses. What options do I have?

You should give them the opportunity to make it good. If they cannot, then you can bring a suit for breach of contract.

You could deed in back to them if they are willing to accept a deed in lieu. Usually, timeshare companies are willing to do so.

you can try talking to the general contractor about your pay or you can possibly file a mechanics lien.

that depends. if you are seeking damages in the amount of $10,000.00 or less, then yes. if the value is greater than $10,000.00, then the matter is not a small claim.
