If I am understanding this correctly, the officer wrote out the ticket to a third party. Here, the third party is the spouse of the vehicle operator. The ticket is a summons for that third party to appear in court. The third party can demand discovery and raise defenses (i.e. it wasn't me) to... View More

Tickets don't just go away and eventually if you don't pay them they turn into a warrant or a suspension of your drivers license or both. You can pay the warrant any time at any NJ police station, BUT if you want to pay it at the court you have to wait to do this during the weekday. The... View More

The best defense to any ticket is to hire a good lawyer.

The second best is to prove someone else was driving your car.

In general the maximum fine is $200.00 plus court costs and 2 points. That being said: Under NJSA: 39:5-31: A judge may suspend the driving privileges of...

Q: I received a court summons for traffic tickets I did not get. Someone provide my information to the cops.

I was not the person driving and it was not my car that was stopped. The tickets were issued in East Orange, NJ. The driving had temporary plates that expired on a car that is not registered to me and provided the cops with my name and information to avoid getting a ticket. How do I fight this.

To fight this ticket, it seems to me one would hire an attorney who knows and perhaps has the professional experience required to represent the defendant at trial.

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission does not assign points unless and until a judgment of conviction for a motor vehicle offense is entered by the Municipal Court. This can appear to be a seamless process, but without the conviction, no points will be applied to the license. Therefore, if the... View More

Definitely get yourself a lawyer because if you end up getting charged with no insurance you could face loss of your license to drive. And yes you can be issued a ticket without being stopped by a police officer. I suggest that you set up one of the free in office consultations that most of us... View More

I suggest that you pay it as even if you had a defense, which you did not present in your question. Your not allowed to have anything that blocks the view of the windshield in front of you in your car.

Anything is possible and the driving while suspended is the most likely ticket to get dismissed since as you say they did not see you driving. However, they don't need to see you driving to ticket you for this offense and thus you could still lose its the ability to drive so even if your... View More

I was not the person that was in the car. This person used my information, now I must appear in court. Is there anything I can do about this. The tickets were issued in East Orange, NJ.

Definitely get yourself a good lawyer this case is not as easy as you may think to win in fact its easy to lose if the officers says he saw you in the car. Those errors on the ticket would not be fatal to the charge as long as the ticket was given to you and the officer can testify to that.
