I received a speeding ticket in Ohio from a State Highway Patrolman, and the court date was set as TBD. It's been almost a month, and I still have not received a summons. Can I get in trouble for not showing up to Court for my ticket, even though I never received an official Court date?

Yes, and its probably already passed...you should call the clerk of courts and inquiry.

At a minimum, the court is likely to suspend his license, fine him, and put him on probation for acting recklessly and irresponsibly -- in hopes of making a significant enough impression that he won't risk his life and teh lives of others when he is eventually allowed to drive again.
Can a police officer be illegally parked on the side of the road to give a speeding ticket? He was on the side of the highway with no lights anywhere and his car lights turned off, past sunset, I was wondering how if that would be illegal for me if it’s okay for them to break the law to enforce... Yes, they can. Yes, they do. I wish they didn’t too. It is dangerous.
So I can start by taking the necessary steps to get back on track. Thank you.

This is my first driving offense. I am 16

You will be summoned to go to court, fined, and probably have your license suspended by the judge. You are a new driver with little driving experience. The judge is likely to think that you don't even have enough experience to be driving 55 in a 55, so will think that speeding 20 miles over... View More

If you got a ticket for it...most likely for an offense called "wrongful entrustment," then you are already in trouble.
So the court docket dayz case closed background check still shows open warrant who's right?12yrs ol d no license speed

I cannot say without checking with the court. You may want to contact the court so you can talk to them about this. Or you may want to consult with an attorney for help resolving this. What I can say is that, when a warrant is issued, Ohio courts will mark the case as closed until the warrant is... View More

"Not guilty" remains the starting point no matter how guilty you are. If there was insurance and a proper license in place, this will be no big deal. The court will want to make sure the victim is whole, and give your kid a fine. Your insurance carry may increase your rates, and that will... View More

No. Under Ohio State Law, that offense becomes jailable on a third offense for driving under suspension in 3 years (doesn't matter whether the first two suspension were for FRA or another reason). Furthermore, cities and towns have their own laws and are free to up the penalties (which many... View More
I was cited for running a red light but I did not . The other driver that hit me said I ran it and a witness said I ran it but our insurance companies investigated and had to throw out the witness statement because he contradicted what he told the cop he is now saying the other driver ran it . You'll need to subpoena the witnesses you want unless they are willing to come voluntarily. If the independent witness is now saying it was the other driver who ran the light, that should certainly help.
(i.e. reduce a 25 over the limit speeding ticket to 15 over)

If you already paid the ticket or went to court, there is little chance of going back. If you haven't yet, plead not guilty, get a court date, and talk to the prosecutor, or better yet, have a lawyer do so. Such reductions are fairly common.
No one got hurt and the collision wasn't that bad. This is my first accident.

Probably. The court could determine that you were acting very irresponsibly, and at such a young age, you need more maturity before being allowed to drive again, where you could kill yourself or others. Driving is a privilege, not a right. The court can take it away.
I was pulled over this morning the 15th for speeding which resulted in me finding out my license was suspended. I was to hold a sr22 until August of 2018. I wasn’t aware that my sr22 was over tomorrow the 16th And I was in fact driving with a suspended license. I was at the time driving my... View More

The court will want you to get insurance so yes, while it won't make the charge go away, getting insurance as soon as possible will help.
It was on a highway. No police was involved.

If the police are given the video, they may well issue a ticket for reckless driving. It may be difficult for them to prove it was you driving. Charging you only requires probable cause. If you are the registered owner of the car, that's going to be enough to charge as it is probable that you... View More

warrant blocks do not expire. Some of the court go through about every 10 years and clear out old ones they think won't ever lead to payment, but for the most part, its a good way to get people to pay up so they stay in place.
