Q: Dan Snyder was caught doing wrong and sold his team. What are the chances others have paid people off to keep silent?

I'm referring to owners of sports teams doing wrong and then paying people off to keep them silent. After getting caught, Donald Sterling regretted not doing it. Are confidential settlements very common among celebrities?

A Virginia attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for a week. I'm not familiar with the details of that case. But as a general matter, confidentiality agreements are used when settling some types of cases - where defendants may wish to reduce publicity/protect privacy for... View More

There is no statute of limitations on felony offenses in Virginia. I obviously do not know what specifics act(s) your daughter is alleging, but a felony offense could potentially be prosecuted even after more than a decade. If your daughter suspects a crime happened and wishes to report it, she... View More

I'm so sorry you are going through this incredibly difficult and scary situation. What your landlord has done is sexual assault and the coercion he is engaging in now is abusive and illegal. You have every right to feel safe in your own home. I would advise the following steps to protect... View More

If bond was not granted by the magistrate or by the judge at his arraignment, then he or his attorney will need to file a bond motion. Opportunity will be given at a bond hearing to present relevant factors for the court's consideration, including but not limited to the nature and... View More

Unfortunately there are many scams that are going around where people are doing this for either money or other kinds of issues. I would keep screen shots of everything and go to the police for extortion. Cut off contact, but do not change your number - just don't reply to anything they are... View More

You could file a civil lawsuit against him. If you'd like to do that, you should go to your local General District Court and tell them the situation and they will give you the paperwork to file the suit.

If he's stolen your phone, he could be charged with larceny. If he's...

As far a suing anyone, if they don't have any money there's really nothing to sue them for. You need to protect your /your husband's kids and get the kids appropriate counselling.

Suggest you contact a childrens rights attorney in Virginia to see if there are any other options.

It depends. If a condition of your probation for a sexual assault conviction is to comply with everything your probation officer requests and she/he requests that you take a lie detector test and you refuse, it could be a problem. In that case, you need to speak to the attorney who represented... View More

It was by multiple employees. I contacted my bosses and upper managment. No one would help. I was forced out of a job and income. This happened over a few months ago but due to emotional distress and my safety I could not do anything. Also when I tried I was given no options.
