If the dog isn't under control yes; if it was on a lead, you tightened up when child approached and the child thrust itself at the dog, no. But it's on you to control your dog at all times. And control means that--if it can bite anyone, it's you, not someone else.

Q: Does my dog need any paperwork to get dog insurance?

David Alan Wolf's answer
It depends on what type of dog insurance you are looking to obtain. The requirements for "paperwork" will depend on the policies and procedures of the insurance company. There are many loopholes for denying coverage for dog bite incidents. Make sure that you understand the policy that you are obtaining and what the insurance company requires to provide coverage when there is an incident. Good luck.
