Q: is it legal to display a old out of state plate on your vehicle, in addition to your current plates?

I have a 1968 international pickup I bought from Texas. I found a 1968 Texas plate I was going to use to cover a hole in the bottom rear corner of the bed is it legal to display a old out of state plate on a vehicle? Even when you display current plates

You cannot display an old license plate on your vehicle even if using it to patch holes. You might want to turn it around so it doesn't appear confusing to anyone.

Best is to hire a lawyer, for the cop it is a clerical error not negligence and what in general will happen is that the ticket will just be reissued to your father, but ways around this may exist.

Address noted on ticket requires a Parking Permit which I do not have therefore I will not park there. Would a prosecutor drop the ticket because of this technicality?

Generally most tickets will not be dismissed because of a clerical error. That being said unless you go to court you will never know.

If a ticket has a court date it is not a warning. I suggest a lawyer as the penalties for these tickets especially the no insurance ticket is very severe. Unfortunately you are required to show the officer your insurance proof when he arrives at your window, he/she does not need to wait for you... View More
