Q: Should this still be on my record as a misdemeanor?

I went to apply for an apartment recently and was denied due to a misdemeanor on my background check. This came as a shock to me. They informed me that it was "carless operation," and then I remembered. In the beginning of 2018 I accidentally ran a red light in a town that I had never... View More

The expungement process generally...

If you pay the ticket before the court date you are not required to appear. That being said, they will accept the payment of the ticket (bond) and adjudicate you guilty and send that to the DMV to assess points on your license. It might be worth speaking with an attorney in that area that would be... View More

Q: In Sc pulled over for doing 93/55. My son said there’s no way he was doing that speed. Gave him a ticket for 56/55

The cop said hed give him a ticket for 56 in a 55. My son said he was driving in the right lane behind trucks and his car couldn’t go 93 if it wanted to. Can he fight the ticket? It’s 2 points and 76$ fine

There are ways to fight any ticket but until you or an attorney receive all of the discovery from law enforcement there is no way to answer your question. It might be worth reaching out to an attorney in the area where the ticket was written to advise you.

Q: So you already said I don’t have to show up in court. Is it worth it to fight to have 2 pts dropped?

How does 2 pts affect insurance in SC? Is it worth it to try and fight the points or just be happy the trooper decreased the points from 4 to 2 and since I’ve paid just go on my way? It is my first ticket ever

The minimum points on any speeding ticket is two points. The judge does not have the authority to drop them any lower. Your insurance can take the conviction into account but that really depends on your carrier.
