The worker's compensation carrier is entitled to have you examined by an independent doctor of their choosing. However, you are free to treat with any doctor of your OWN choosing.

The problem is you do not really have any damages. In a personal injury suit you need something like medical bills to show it was bad enough to treat.

You should file a worker's compensation claim, which would include income. Find a local WC attorney who can help you with it, as they may also figure out a way to go after the employer for the actions after the incident.

File a claim against whom? The person who assaulted you? It would be too late for that as the statute of limitations in your state is 3 years from the date of the occurrence. Did you not file a workers compensation claim?
