Lawyer doesn't want to honor our contract because he got 2 cases that would've been profitable tossed out of court by cancelling all depositions. Now he don't want to continue with case against my sister's killer because he knows this person has no assets. But we signed a contract.

Depends on the two cases being "tossed" and the reasons for them. Contact a member of CAOC who handles legal malpractice cases.
Atkins v. Virginia

Atkins v Virginia, decided in 2002, held that it is a violation of the 8th Amendment prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment to execute a "mentally retarded" defendant, finding that " the large number of States prohibiting the execution of mentally retarded persons... View More

I don't think that someone who makes your life miserable is going to be liable for suicide. However, if someone encourages and/or provides other support for such an action, liability might be possible. Talk to a mental health counselor. There are resources to help.

Neither. Bodily injury claims and property damage claims have separate limits in liability policies. The damages paid out for one does not affect the other. Facts to consider include the number of claimants, the economic damages (loss of financial support due to absence of the decedent),... View More

It could be over tomorrow. It could go through trial and appeals and take years. Every case is different. What happens to the driver depends on the facts of the incident, which you haven't shared.
Police are not doing a criminal investigation and I have reason to believe her death was no over dose, but in fact a homicide. I believe her phone contains information that can help me find the truth. How can I get the police to assist in getting the phone unlocked?
answered on Feb 22, 2019
Not sure, but I would contact the phone manufacturer with evidence that I was the heir, or had legal authority to access the phone, and request its help.

If you had a case, it would be for the value of the dog. I don't know whether what he did was illegal. However, if he had called the police instead, what do you think they would have done?

clarification of what? You say the deceased was your partner, but that may not qualify you for benefits. Hopefully your partner left something in writing saying that you are an heir. Otherwise, you may be forced to litigate the issue. Be advised that if there are no dependents entitled to... View More

I'm unaware of any statutory duty of the hospital to notify next of kin. Further, it appears that your uncle may have asked for no notification based on the "No Family" designation. Finally, the Coroner’s Office has the responsibility of notifying next of kin.... View More

It is highly doubtful that you are going to be able to adequately investigate a death from 17 years ago. You can try to get the body exhumed and hire a pathologist to perform an autopsy. Be prepared to spend about $10,000, at least. Whatever that determines may lead you to other lines of inquiry... View More

You have left out a lot of facts: like why your brother did that? Why you didn't get the dog from the shelter? Depending on facts, taking the dog to the shelter may have been the proper thing to do. Putting the dog to sleep might have been the proper thing to do. Without the full story, no... View More

Very unclear what happened. If someone installed a lightning rod improperly, and you were injured as a result, you might have a claim. Consult with a knowledgeable PI attorney to a detailed evaluation of exactly what happened to you.

There is no such thing as a driverless car. There are cars which try to operate without as much human intervention, but humans are still "in control" and can intervene when appropriate. In other words, you sue the driver and owner of the car, as well as the manufacturer/ distributor/... View More
