I was pulled over for speeding (24mph over). I was told I should call the county clerk and ask to go to traffic school. Would I still need to appear in court?
answered on Dec 11, 2021
Yes. The county clerk does not handle traffic tickets. The District Court clerk handles traffic tickets but you have to go to court in order to be referred to traffic school.

Yes. Generally the fine has to be paid at least 24 hours before the court date for it to come off the courts docket. You’d better call the clerk and check to make sure.
Is there potential for insurance points to be accessed unless bargained down to a non-moving violation?

Insurance companies can run your record at any time and they have different protocols for raising your rates. My advice would be to always get a speeding ticket dismissed if you can.
How could someone be arrested for driving on suspension if they aren’t operating the vehicle ?
answered on Oct 23, 2021
It depends on the circumstances. If the police do not have any proof at all the person was at any time operating or driving the vehicle then they should not be charged. If the person was driving at a previous date and the police can prove they were driving they could be charged. This commonly... View More

Sure. You can argue no reasonable suspicion. However, you also need a good backup plan.
I just got my first ticket. The officer said I was going 70 in a 55, but wrote it up as going 60 in a 55. It has a prepayable amount on it, though. If I make the payment before my court date, do I still have to go to court?
answered on Sep 29, 2021
No, not if you pay , but you’d be better off hiring a lawyer who can probably get it diverted or dismissed for you, rather than risking potential license/insurance/points issues.

Hire a lawyer to go back in and reform the plea you made by paying.
3. Expired license registration but I was in possession of the new one in my car, officer saw it. What should I expect, court date is December 2021. Thank you.

If you correct it all before court and take proof with you to court, they may dismiss some or all of the charges.
We were told to send a check to pay for the ticket but weren’t told about a hearing or anything. Will he lose his license?
answered on Sep 19, 2021
Your best bet is to contact a lawyer that is licensed in Ohio and practices regularly in the county where he received the ticket.

Probably not initially, but you should hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to help you.
Street address was wrong on ticket as well. Year and make and color of car was right just not the model Happened in spencer co ky.

You can go to court or you can hire an attorney to go to court on your behalf. They will likely work out a resolution that day and then if you owe fines and costs they will be due on a later date usually 60 to 90 days after you plead guilty

Other hearing denotes hearing on a special or specific issue.
Stopped in grant county charged with reckless driving speeding 26> Failure to or improper signal following another vehicle to closely best or worst possible outcome should I get an attorney?
answered on Jul 25, 2021
You are always better off if you hire an attorney. It really depends on how fast you were going. 26 mph over is the highest charge in Kentucky but you can actually be going for 30, 40 or mph over it would show up as the same charge
I’ve gotten a ticket once in October 2019 and did traffic school so it never counted against my license. Will I be able to make payments on my ticket or will I have to be able to pay in full? How big of a fine will I expect to pay? Can they offer traffic school again?

I was also cited for failure to notify dmv of moving from Ohio to Nashville but I just moved last month. I’m worried about the points being added to my record. Should I hire an attorney?
answered on Jul 9, 2021
It depends what county you’re in but hiring attorney for any speeding ticket over 20 mph over is typically worth it because you can get a reduced charged or possibly a County Attorney or state traffic school diversion program. Having a local attorney is much easier than trying to do it yourself... View More
