The reason of me specifying Im 17 is because I have a car, the ability to go, and I can say it is not her fault and entirely mine, I missed 27 days last year and I only got a warning at 12 days. This has already happened and you are asking if it can happen, right? It is not a basic question at all, and requires that one know the school rules for that school.

The law allows a child to stop attending regular school if he or she has a job and needs to continue working on a schedule that cannot work with full time schooling to provide for his or her family or self due to his or her parents' inability to do so. The same law mandates that such a person... View More

They really should have. I would document your displeasure at this result in a letter to the school indicating they are not to release your son to anyone not on the list. Hopefully, that will settle the issue.

Q: Does a public school have the legal right to detain a person exiting the parking lot for more than 5 min?

Public school is stopping traffic at exit for 15 minutes , even though no traffic is coming in either direction will not let cars leave.

Matthew Williams

This sounds a bit odd. Do you any idea of what the reason for delaying traffic is? Public schools can and do control the flow of traffic around the school at pick and drop off time, but I've never heard of one delaying cars at the exit for no apparent reason. Usually, it is fairly obvious... View More

As a permanent resident, you now have an eligible visa type to be considered a resident. However, there are other criteria which must be met. You are likely considered an "independent student" right now. Read this: http://registrar.osu.edu/Residency/independent_students.asp

Q: Are mandatory school activities legal on Sundays if given only an 18 hour notice.

My band director called on a Saturday at 2:30pm to inform me that there will be a rehearsal that will take up most of the following day. I also have other commitments I have made prior to this phone call. If I did not go to this, I would receive a lower grade, miss out on future band related... View More

I'm not aware of any law the band director would be violating here, but the school likely has a host of administrative rules that may have been broken. I would take this matter up with the principle and/or school board. I suspect they will agree this is not fair.

Q: If your 17 and drop out in Ohio to get ged can the court system do anything ?

I have a baby and the school said that my mom could sign me out

Once you are 16, you can drop out of school with permission from the school and a parent. You are supposed to have a full time job as well, but as long as you have parental permission, school permission, and are working towards a GED, there is little chance of legal intervention. That said, you... View More

Q: Professor calling me a different name twice. Is this legal to where I win and university loses. Please advice. ASAP plse

Professor put different names on the comment area with a grade. Is it mind or others? I got a grade that I do not deserve. The professor will not entertain changing the final grade and so I am trying from this angle to get my grade higher. Ethical or legal do I have a case to win or lose? What I... View More

This is an internal university matter, not a legal matter. If you believe the professor made an error and gave you someone else's grade, you may be able to appeal the grade through the university. That can be very difficult; however, as the professor will most likely say it was just a typo and... View More

If staying in school is a term of your probation, which almost certainly is, then yes you could be arrested and violate your probation, if you quit school. That is about the least important reason in the world not to quit school though.
