Very low chance of jail time. However, if it is charged as Reckless Driving you will be found guilty of a misdemeanor and may lose your license for up to six months. At that speed, you may be eligible to get it reduced to a traffic infraction in Fairfax. Give me a call at 703-352-9044. I am very... View More

The answer is there is a strong possibility of a license suspension with the new charge. But the main issue is that you are on probation for the DUI, and there is suspended jail time hanging over your head for that offense if you get convicted on the Reckless Driving charge. You may be served... View More

Yes, you should get a lawyer for both pending cases. They are charged as Class 1 misdemeanors and may result in jail time of up to one year and/or a fine of up to $2,500. Also, your license may be additionally suspended by the court hearing the cases. If you can pay your fines and get the... View More

Your question is best addressed by an experienced traffic violations attorney in the area where the ticket was issued. If VA is like NY, your past driving record will be important, so you should be prepared to disclose your driving record to the VA attorney(s) you consult with. (You can get a copy... View More

In a many jurisdictions if you appear for court with proof that you have gotten the vehicle's inspection up to date, the judge often will dismiss the ticket. You...

Q: I got a speeding ticket 76/55 in 2014 but the dmv says I have reckless on my record

The officer informed me It could be reckless but he dropped it to just a speeding ticket. Why does it still say reckless and is there anything I can do to change it?

You may want to get a certified copy of the records from the court. If they show simple speeding (not reckless), you may be able to provide that to DMV to have them correct their records. Talk with a VA traffic attorney if you can't make any headway on your own.

You should go to court on the date and time you were summonsed. It is possible the ticket has not been processed into the system yet. If you do not appear, you will not be able to fight the ticket. If you show up and it is not called, then you can speak to the clerk to find out what is going on.

I would be curious to know what you were charged with on the summons before making a call on your case. Consider contacting a traffic attorney familiar with the county/city where you received the charge to look at the ticket and review the facts of your case. Good luck to you.

Of course you still owe them. Even if you don't have the car, they have your ID information from the DMV. If you don't pay them, your license could eventually be suspended and/or your taxes or wages could be garnished to pay for your unpaid fines and costs. Best to confront the problem... View More
