You do not get nearly the amount of money the person paying taxes into the system would have received. I have seen checks as low as $50 and as high as $700. It really depends on how much the wage earner earned during his lifetime and how many recipients are collecting on the benefits. There... View More

Q: Sons father passed away. He receives a ssi check in the amount of $300month. is that a normal amount for one child?

His father paid a lot of taxes, it doesn't seem right for him to receive such a small amount.

Son's guardian should check with social security;. If father passed, note there may be life insurance policies that benefit the son that people have forgotten about.

Q: ALJ granted disability hearing postponement but I need more time to find new lawyer and build more medical records.

My lawyer dropped me as a client well actually their assistant which seemed odd as I never even once got to speak to the actual lawyer. The assistant dropped me as a client, saying I wasn't trying to get medical records but I could not work, had no insurance and he just couldn't... View More

You have Internet access; presumably you have a telephone. There is no reason on earth you need more than three months to find an attorney to take your case (if it is a valid case). So in my opinion the ALJ will not grant a further continuance.

I was on payment plan a few years back but defaulted. I called the Bureau of Fiscal Services/Treasury 800#, no offsets for my SSN. I'm assuming if you got snap and MA they would have signed you up for aid to families with dependent children (ADC) if you haven't already got it. You should check with SSI to see as you are the caretaker relative for the child if you can get a spousal benefit. Otherwise talk to Legal... View More

I think you may be confusing Medicare and Medicaid. Your father has Medicare Part A and B. Unfortunately, Medicare will only pay a portion of a nursing home bill for 100 days - max. Medicaid will pay for the nursing home bill if your father qualifies. If he does not qualify, there are strategies... View More

Because it is Social Security administrative law. My guess is the Social Security Administration doesn't have venue rules requiring that a matter be adjudicated in the state in which the applicant resides. I suggest that you contact the SSA and ask whether and how it can be transferred to... View More

The onset date of a disability is a very important date, and what the court rules is based upon the evidence in front of it. You are entitled to benefits after the onset date.
