You cannot collect his benefits until you reach retirement age if you are not disabled.
I also have medicare and a secondary insurance which pays for my medical supplies. If I move to Australia, will I loose my coverage and medical supplies?

The big question is out in Oz will they accept medicare as payment? You won't get SSI, that's for sure. Generally you can move and get your social security--many retired to Poland for example and collected. But SSI doesn't cross borders

I'm assuming you don't qualify for Social Security Disability under your own earnings record. If you file for divorce but are in the household you may have issues. If the real issue is medical care, you may be able to apply for adult basic. Suggest you speak with a local disability... View More

You cannot get both social security retirement and social security disability benefits at the same time (if that is what you are asking).
His father paid a lot of taxes, it doesn't seem right for him to receive such a small amount.

Son's guardian should check with social security;. If father passed, note there may be life insurance policies that benefit the son that people have forgotten about.

You do not get nearly the amount of money the person paying taxes into the system would have received. I have seen checks as low as $50 and as high as $700. It really depends on how much the wage earner earned during his lifetime and how many recipients are collecting on the benefits. There... View More
My lawyer dropped me as a client well actually their assistant which seemed odd as I never even once got to speak to the actual lawyer. The assistant dropped me as a client, saying I wasn't trying to get medical records but I could not work, had no insurance and he just couldn't... View More

You have Internet access; presumably you have a telephone. There is no reason on earth you need more than three months to find an attorney to take your case (if it is a valid case). So in my opinion the ALJ will not grant a further continuance.
I was on payment plan a few years back but defaulted. I called the Bureau of Fiscal Services/Treasury 800#, no offsets for my SSN. I figured out the back taxes/unfiled taxes to be approx $17K(minus penalties interest accrued). I would love to do a compromise to pay the taxes owed without the... View More

I'm assuming if you got snap and MA they would have signed you up for aid to families with dependent children (ADC) if you haven't already got it. You should check with SSI to see as you are the caretaker relative for the child if you can get a spousal benefit. Otherwise talk to Legal... View More

I think you may be confusing Medicare and Medicaid. Your father has Medicare Part A and B. Unfortunately, Medicare will only pay a portion of a nursing home bill for 100 days - max. Medicaid will pay for the nursing home bill if your father qualifies. If he does not qualify, there are strategies... View More

Because it is Social Security administrative law. My guess is the Social Security Administration doesn't have venue rules requiring that a matter be adjudicated in the state in which the applicant resides. I suggest that you contact the SSA and ask whether and how it can be transferred to... View More

For what type of case? It is always advisable to hire your own attorney.

You did not give enough facts here, so the best thing to do is to actually talk with a social security lawyer.
answered on Aug 4, 2015
That depends upon the facts, and all we know is only what you have written, which is not enough to conclude that something even can be done. When you have a legal problem, you need to speak with an attorney.
