You can be served anywhere, as long as it is properly done - ie. by the Sheriff's Department or via a properly appointed private process server.

No that plan won't work. Your Dad and his wife can adopt, but then you are out of the picture. You can wait until you do consider remarriage. You can seek sole custody now. You will need an attorney for all of the above.

Your friend's lawyer or your's need to review details with you before the state steps in and mucks everything up.

Prior to his 18th birthday he needs his parents' permission. After his 18th birthday he does not.

Call a family law attorney to file Contempt and then you can extend the option of surrendering parental rights to avoid contempt

You need to hire a family law attorney to file for custody. We don't have guardianship in Louisiana. Then you can get her in school and on medicaid.

You can't do an adoption by Affidavit. You need an attorney to file a Petition.

If they were not married and he not the biological father, he can only get parental rights by filing for custody. On the other hand to avoid child support, he has to Disavow. He can do either by hiring a family lawyer

Q: If I make 21 this month and I want to be adopted, what are the necessary steps? Do my parents need to be married?

As an adult, you don't need your father's permission. By the way, you are an adult at 18, not 21. You and your parents need to hire an adoption attorney.

Yes, prospective support will be stopped but you will still owe the back child support.
