Municipal ordinances may be worded a little... View More

Q: The statutes listed on my citation are incorrect, and the fines for speeding I CAN find (title 47s) are 100$ less

They are listed as title 15 violations, (speeding and not carrying DL) my understanding is I can present my valid DL and have that dismissed, but the speeding one is also 100$ more than the statute lists. Can I get it reduced?

Depends if it was a municipal, county or state. Municpalities can set their own fee schedules. Additionally if it were in construction zone, school zone or other contributing factors then the fee could be higher as well. You can try to get it lowered but chances are it will cost more to get it... View More

Using Google Maps and searching for the city will generally highlight the city in a different shade/color. Often, the municipality's website will have a downloadable map of the city, which should show you the outer boundaries of the city.

No, a stop sign is not a yield sign. A stop sign means you are supposed to stop and failure to do so exposes you to a traffic ticket for stop sign violation.

With technology in todays world a signature of the officer is often not on the printed citation, however, their name should always be on there. As far as the amount, that is not required to be on the citation as these amounts do change and the officer is not responsible for that. A date of the... View More

Is there a possibility you were in the wrong court? A lot of people go to the city when they should be going to the county and vice versa. I would recommend verifying the department that issued you the ticket and then make sure that was the court you went to.

Q: If a company is suspended by the tax commission, can they still do business legally?

It was a tow company that impounded my vehicle due to a traffic stop and me not having proper updated tags; which I also hear that insurance is voluntary unless you’re operating a commercial vehicle. The tow company is currently suspended via the tax commission on the Secretary of State website.

The question posed sounds like you got in trouble for exiting your car during a traffic stop. However, your facts leave too much for interpretation. Will this help me or does that matter ?

That will most likely not help you any. The DPS system cannot have every make/model of car, especially the way auto-makers change models of their cars. A 150/250/350 usually is just getting entered in the computer as P/U anyway.
