It was a tow company that impounded my vehicle due to a traffic stop and me not having proper updated tags; which I also hear that insurance is voluntary unless you’re operating a commercial vehicle. The tow company is currently suspended via the tax commission on the Secretary of State website.

First - insurance is not voluntary, hence the reason it is called compulsory insurance. There is a minimum amount required by law.
As far as the tow company is concerned, you need to actually verify they are suspended and not merely on a website which may or may not be updated. They could... View More

If the ticket indicates that you are required to go to court, then you are required to go to court whether or not you paid the ticket in advance. Most likely, a ticket w/MVA is a court required ticket-----what you need to do is report the MVA to your insurance company and request from your... View More
I got stopped for speeding and my car started smoking and I got out to check to see if my car was on fire or if it was just steaming, the officer was in his car running my licenses and writing a ticket.

The question posed sounds like you got in trouble for exiting your car during a traffic stop. However, your facts leave too much for interpretation. In short, if your car is on fire, you are not required to sit in it and burn to death, nor would any law enforcement officer expect you to. On the... View More

That will most likely not help you any. The DPS system cannot have every make/model of car, especially the way auto-makers change models of their cars. A 150/250/350 usually is just getting entered in the computer as P/U anyway.

An Oklahoma attorney could advise best, but your post remains open for four weeks. I hope your daughter is okay. As a general matter, drivers under 18 can receive tickets, and a ticket not being signed by recipient doesn't generally serve to diminish its legal effect. If you haven't... View More

The question you present is not one that can simply be answered on a forum such as this. If you were arrested and no charges were filed, you could contact a civil rights attorney to review your case. If you were charged, you should hire (if you have not done so already) a criminal defense... View More

An Oklahoma attorney could best address your question because it could involve elements of state law. But it remains open for three weeks. As a general matter, aside from the apparent safety issues, it could be a significant factor raised by a plaintiff in an accident. It could also be an issue... View More

The police used a technique called pacing. The evidence in court will be his testimony. It will be his word against yours. It will be his credibility against yours. You need to take the stand, be creditable, be believable, and explain why you would never knowingly speed in plain sight of a police... View More

You could talk to the prosecutor and see if he will dismiss the case. If the prosecutor dismisses the case, it could be won without going to court.
If the prosecutor doesn't dismiss the case, then, you could ask for a hearing before the judge. At the hearing, the prosecutor would have... View More

An officer is under no obligation to first inform you as to the reason that they stop you for a traffic violation. It is always wise to ask in a calm and reasonable manner if indeed you have no idea as to the reason they have stopped you. People usually are aware of the reason but if not ask the... View More

By all means, get your license before the court date. If you need a little additional time, call the Court Clerk and ask to continue the case to another date, and explain why you want this.
When you appear in Court with your new license, show it to the prosecutor and judge. Chances are... View More

No, you don't need a lawyer, and won't go to jail. Get your license if you can before then. Go, and explain to the judge what happened. There's a good chance the judge may even dismiss the case. Good luck.
