I am looking for full-time jobs in the meantime. Once I get a job, I will leave contract work, use a few days of allowable unemployment (out of the 90 days allowed on OPT). Good idea to use my unemployment days to take a break between contract and full-time job/bad idea?

You need to be working a minimum of 20 hours a week does not matter how many months you work. It will not affect your chances for a green card of H1B.
