I’m not sure if this is something I’ve experienced but I was always made to sign something when getting a ticket. (I got one 2 years ago in NJ) Not sure if I will actually be getting a citation or if it was a scare tactic?

An officer is permitted to mail you a citation in Pennsylvania. If you do receive one, feel free to reach out to a traffic or criminal defense attorney for a free consultation. There is some odd interactions between the PA and NJ vehicle code when it comes to points transferring from PA to NJ.
I was just pulled over by the police. I asked the officer to tell me what was the reason for the stop, however, he insisted I give him my ID before he'd tell me what was the reason for the stop. Come to find out, my registration expired ten days ago. As I explained to the officer, it was... View More

Based on what you've written, I don't think you did anything wrong. Most officers, at least those I've interacted with, will run license plates randomly or really whenever they are driving behind someone. A lot of police cars are also now equipped with automatic license plate... View More
I live in PA (Chester county). I was pulled by a police and got a ticket for expired registration and inspection. (My registration was expired 4 months ago and I forgot to renew, my inspection is also expired for this year). I have a clean record. I will get them renewed asap. Shall I just plea... View More

You can simply plead guilty and pay the fine - you won't be assessed any points or suspension. However, given you have a clean record, you should plead not guilty and bring proof of inspection and registration to the court. Most officers will withdraw the citations if you prove you've had... You are facing a license suspension hearing and 5 points at that speed. Plead not guilty on all citations by mail and get a lawyer to help you. Many times we can negotiate the speed down to save your license and save some points. Bring proof you fixed the paperwork to court and alot of times those... View More
A car hit my car at the front passenger side as I was making a left turn at Route 663 at 3:40am. The road was blind on my right and a car was speeding down. Instead of him having a collision towards me, he swerved to the right and fell on a ditch and hit a tree. His car was wrecked but he was fine... View More

You should absolutely plead not guilty. At the very least, it may be possible to have the citation amended to a section that will not add points to your license. Consult a traffic attorney in your area for more information.
Cop pulled me over speeding 60 in a 35 mph zone. I wasn’t doing more than 50 but not really going to argue with him. I was still speeding and agree with that. He said I can fight it in court and the ticket will be mailed to me. It’s the first time I ever heard they can mail the ticket. I though... View More

Yes it is permissible for the citation to be mailed to you under the circumstances. You should contact an attorney to discuss your options. Many times, we can get the speed reduced on the citation to reduce or eliminate the number of points that are assessed to your license.
I was doing the speed limit then slowed down a bit when passing the stop.

Depending on what specific section was cited you might receive points on your license. It would be best to consult with a traffic attorney to get the full details. Most of us provide free consultations. I see your question comes from outside Pennsylvania as well - the answer also depends on what... View More

Yes, an attorney can plead not guilty on your behalf. There are some courts that will still require that you post collateral for the citation. If you are interested in hiring an attorney, reach out to one for a free consult to discuss the citation in detail and what your options might be.
Will there be consequences like jail time or just fines and more probation since I’m already on probation?

The answer depends on a few different factors like whether this is the first time or if you've been convicted for driving under suspension before, as well as whether your license was suspended for a DUI. Contact an attorney for a free consultation and we can tell you what the potential... View More

Here's your problem. At that speed a judge is going to be upset. Really upset. It is ultimately up to the judge even if the cop wants to help you out. If things go wrong you will likely lose your license, get a ton of points and your insurance can go up or they can drop your insurance totally.... View More

Once you are convicted the court sends notice to Penndot and then it appears on your record. It does however depend upon the citation because some moving violations will appear on your record while other non-moving violations will not. If you recently received a ticket you would be well served to... View More
He is 17, came up behind a driver on a rural road that was stopped. According to him she waved him around her, so he went around her. He wasn’t pulled over, no cop on scene. Next day the town cop came to house to get his info. 2 days later he received the citations in the mail. How can a cop... View More

Plead not guilty and get a lawyer. It is the most serious ticket in PA and carries with it 5 points plus an automatic 6 month license suspension. The police do not have to pull someone over to issue a citation if they believe they have the evidence to prove it.
I have a learner's permit, I have an appointment to take my driver's test soon. I was alone in the vehicle when I got pulled over for doing 65 on a 30mph limit. I feel like I messed up by telling the officer I knew I was Speeding. what do I do I'm so confused and scared. I need answers

You need to contact a traffic ticket attorney in your area to represent you and mitigate this issue. Additionally, you should proceed with steps to obtaining your full driver's license and if possible, get it before your court date. Good luck.

First of all, I'm glad your son seems to be ok from the accident. At court you and your son may have the opportunity to talk with the officer about getting rid of or reducing the number of points that could be assessed to his license. You can always ask the court for a continuance if... View More

Yes, you need to plead not guilty. Really, the citation should be dismissed altogether. The officer then has an opportunity to re-file after learning the correct identity of the driver. In my experience, most officers will not re-file against your daughter, but there's a chance he/she will... View More
I got pulled over for going 86 on a 40 work zone. State trooper gave me a pass for that due to my clean record. He said he'd cite me for not turning hazard lights on when pulled over. The only thing that will be made part of the public record is that you received a citation for violated section 4305 (the hazard lights). The trooper likely wrote 86 in a 40 in other section in the event you were to challenge the citation in court - it would remind him as to why he initially pulled... View More
This was a speeding ticket going 80 in a 55, which was reduced to a 61 in a 55 by the officer when I was stopped
When I was handed the ticket though, in the first name and middle name, only my initials were listed. Is it grounds for dismissal?
answered on Jan 13, 2022
No. He handed it to you. You took it. Also, as he gave you a break, the District Justice will be frosty if you try a technical. He gave you a points break. A judge will think you are being greedy.

Hard to tell. If you have a defense and a good reason for a continuance, yes. If you don't have a good reason and want to put it off no.
He made the same mistake I did. He saw a 2 and thought 3. I saw a 1 and thought 2. Is this enough to dismiss the ticket? What's the best defense strategy to at least get the fine reduced?
answered on Jan 13, 2022
No. If the sticker wasn't expired is a defense. The fact the cop missed a couple of numbers won't get you anywhere. Get the car inspected and maybe they'll drop it. In the meantime, don't drive it around without inspection.
I was pulled over and given a ticket by an officer for not stopping at a stop sign. He claimed that I had rolled through a stop sign. Then proceeded to tell me which street I had not stopped on. The issue is the street he stated was not where the incident had happened. He stated it and also wrote... View More

Yes, that would be a fatal error unless the judge allows the officer to amend the citation when you go to court. Get a lawyer because you will have a better result especially if you have to fight this issue. It is points on your license and you don’t want your insurance to be affected. Good luck
