If she causes a serious accident. Can I be sued ?
answered on Sep 4, 2018
possibly. You'd want insurance because if she lets it drop, has a wreck, as the owner of an uninsured vehicle you can be on the hook for all the damages she causes.
I've been told that your home and retirement savings are protected in the event you lose a civil lawsuit. Is that correct? We have $500,000 per accident coverage in auto insurance and $300,000 coverage in homeowners insurance. I realize that medical bills can be far greater than that in... View More

First, talk to your agent. Generally, in a wreck, only the driver can be sued. In some states jointly held property can't be gotten if someone were to win. Unless the person is totaled, the plaintiff will settle for less than $500,000 unless they are a 30 year old skilled laborer and have... View More
I was at fault there was more damage to my car than the other persons. I had no insurance at the time of the accident. This is my first accident, and this will be the first no insurance ticket I will receive. What most likely will happen during court? How long does a driving with no insurance... View More

Worth your getting at least a consult from an attorney who handles tickets in the county where this happened.
Generally, no jail time.
But, get a license suspension as long as you don't pay. Other person can sue you. Not just for their car but for their injuries.

The situation is, we arrived at the job, there was no room for more then one truck to pull onto the property, the house is right on the highway, it's a 2 lane road with NO shoulder, do we park in the lane or do we unsafely pull sideways on a large grade, trucks weigh 58,000 lbs, would that be... Find a nearby area where you can pulloff and wait. It'd be ok to wait with flashers on if you were going to offload in a couple of minutes--if you are sitting there longer the law would say, couldn't you sit somewhere else?

Means someone thinks you don't have insurance so you need to provide proof of coverage.

I was then side swiped. I was ticketed & I don't feel at fault. How should I handle this at my court date?
answered on Mar 2, 2018
Plead not guilty if you haven't done that. Get pictures of your car if relevant. Get a copy of the police report. figure out where you entered, approximately when you were sidesiped, how far you traveled once you were in the lane (when you say center do you mean it was 3 travel lanes? If not,... View More
I was driving 15 mph in a 35 limit. Very icy roads. Once I started sliding I could not stop and slid off the road, 30 feet downhill into trees. Got a tow and the state patrol helped direct traffic. Afterwords he presented me with a $113.50 ticket for “drove vehicle improperly on mountain... View More

Why not? Worst that happens is judge tell you to pay it. You were slowed down--any slower you wouldn't have control on the vehicle.
Liability insurance coverage only

Not sure what your question is. Presumably you did that to cover cost of the tow. Has no affect on your insurance.
The police officer who arrived filled out an accident report where he cited the other driver for careless driving, but no summons was issued. Since no summons was issued was the other driver given an actual citation for careless driving, and if so, what penalty would have that driver suffered?... View More

They are correct, though morally as you were using your car they should at least pay for the deductible. If you were hurt it is a workers compensation injury.

Seems it would make sense to go back, put a note on the windshield or at least change the tire now. If they have a sign warning you not to park, you'd better believe it can be towed.

my boyfriend was in an accident in my car, i was not there at the time of the accident, but i want to know if the other driver can come after me for the cost of damages since it was my car that was involved in the accident. and my boyfriend did not have insurance
answered on Nov 30, 2017
Assuming he had your permission, your insurance will cover the claim. Let them handle it. If sued, they will give you an attorney. They will ask the other person for a release of claims in exchange for the money so you should be protected.
answered on Nov 24, 2017
You should immediately forward the documents you received to your insurance carrier and confirm that they will timely file a formal response on your behalf. Otherwise, a judgment may be entered against you, and it could be registered in Texas.
