Q: Can a non custodial parent claim visitation rights after 6 years of no visitation?

The father did not follow court order of letting my child visit me, the court order child to visit mother; he is now an adult and I had no contact at all. Can the father be held on contempt of court? I have not seen my child for 6 years.

You should have brought this up with the court when it happened. It's quite possible that witnesses to what transpired have forgotten the details, so it is unlikely that contempt of court will be found.

Q: I have two child support cases against me in two different states.. The original case began in 2008 here in Florida.

I am up to date on all payments, I have no arrears, and my payments are deducted from my disability check each and every month on time. The other case is in Iowa and it was fraudulently done by my ex. What can I do to have the child support case in Iowa closed?

inform the Iowa court of the Florida child support order. For specifics, you should ask your question in Justia > Ask a Lawyer > Iowa.

Q: On my FL public search of my case the Docket Events show Order Denying. What does this mean?

I recently served my ex-husband with papers requesting to move from Florida to Texas and he responded. Does Order denying mean I can't move? The Docket does not show the order so I can download it and review it and I have not received anything in the mail.

Yes, if the Puerto Rico divorce didn't result in a final judgment and was dismissed instead, you can file for divorce here in Florida. It may well be possible to do it without your wife being physically present.

Typically, no. But it's unclear as to whether you are asking about a Michigan or a Florida child support order. If it's Michigan, ask in the Michigan section.

Q: Can I let my ex mother-in-law or ex's fiance know that he owes a lot of back child support?

Ex owes 15k+ in arrears. I feel that he is keeping this secret from his mother and fiance. I believe if they knew, they would get him to take care of his obligations. Q: I recently had my motion to terminate child support they ended up comeing up with suspending my child support with a

$0.00 monthly fee. They did some math with my arrears and said I was $4,700 over what I owed. My question is what happens to that $4,700 ?

Terrence H Thorgaard

It's not completely clear what you are saying. The arrearage figure is negative $4,700; you paid too much? In that case, you should seek an order that the person who was paid the child support reimburse you.

Q: How is this going to go?

For starters, baby daddy has seen his daughter twice in 6 years. Chances are that they are making empty threats, so don't get worried about it until they actually file suit. If the child has lived in Florida for at least six months, they would have to file in a Florida court. It would be very surprising if the court were to award the father primary custody.

No, how do you suppose a court can hold a dead man in contempt?

The statute of limitations would probably bar your claim against his probate estate, assuming there is a probate case pending.

It would depend upon the laws of whatever jurisdiction ordered child support, Florida or Puerto Rico, but in general no: just because she is pregnant doesn't change your obligation to pay for her support.
