You can always ask the judge for credit, but the judge is not supposed to give you credit for one offense when your serving for another unless they arise together. Speak with a lawyer but expect to pay that lawyer for their time and advise.

You need to call the MVC to check, but as long as you don't have a warrant it should not cause a problem in getting your license in NJ

Q: I was driving my dads car and he got summoned to court for something I did because the car is under his name

Does he have to appear to court even though it had nothing to do with him or can I appear because I was operating the vehicle .

If the summons is in his name he needs to go to court, but if you want to give him a good defense you will go with him and you both will have a lawyer if it is a serious ticket. I suggest that you set up one of the free in office consultations that must of us traffic ticket lawyers offer.

The officer is not required to put on the ticket how your speed was measured. Thus that will not dismiss the ticket. If you need to know how your speed was checked you will need to order the discovery for the case which you can get by following court rule 7:7-7. Best advise: Hire a lawyer to... View More

Parent guardian(s) or dependent(s) are allowed as passengers. A dependent is a permit or probationary driver's child, not siblings.

Only one additional passenger is allowed unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Actually it is very common to get tickets after the fact. For most tickets the police have up to 30 days to send you one and a few tickets like DWI and leaving the scene of an accident have even a longer time line. I suggest hiring a good lawyer.

Q: If I had permission to borrow a car 2 months ago & returned it same day can a person press charges

I had permission to borrow a car about two months ago. The person gave me the key and I brought the car back right away when I was done. Now they are made at me for other reasons and are threatening to press charges on me for the time I borrowed the car out of spite. Can they?

It would be hard for them to prove the case this far out. If they went to the police while the car was gone then they would have a good case. But anyone can file charges the question is can they win. If charged get a good lawyer.
