I suggest you hire a lawyer as you should have a warrant out for your arrest plus the charge itself has a 6 month loss of your license. Setup one of the Free in office consultations that most of us offer to try to reduce the penalties you face.

Q: Hi, I parked in a handicapped spot at Target, like always, as I'm disabled, and used a disability placard on my mirror.

I got a ticket for an "expired disability placard" - apparently by years. I didn't know it was expired as it said "Permanent" on it. I have to go to court for this, and I think it's a $250 fine. I am disabled, and sent in a new application after I got the ticket... View More

Yes you should go to court to claim the truth as you probably have to go to court anyway as this is generally a mandatory court appearance ticket and the judge may just waive the fine.

Q: I have a probationary license and received a speeding ticket (41 in a 25) and one for not having the red decal.

This is the first time I was pulled over. Should I plead innocent? Also will my license be revoked? How do I avoid getting points on my license or having it taken away altogether?

To properly answer your question, you should setup an in office consultation with an experienced traffic ticket lawyer. Most of us offer a free in office consultation so you have nothing to lose. What I will say here is that in most cases it is wise to hire a lawyer.

Generally it will cost more money to hire a lawyer than it is worth because for a first offense the penalty is generally a fine of $200.00. For a second offense I do recommend it as, a person convicted of violating this section shall be fined $250.00 or shall be ordered by the court to perform... View More

Q: In NJ, can an officer give multiple tickets for the same ordinance violation for the same incident?

I have a municipal case in NJ. An officer gave me 4 tickets for violations of the same ordinance (putting out refuse early) for each trash bag that I had out. Ordinances are determined by the town you have to look up your towns rules. A lawyer will charge you for the research you can do this yourself if you want to save the money.

It wasn't My fault. The car in front of me was following to closely the car in front it, and then the car completely stopped to.not hit the car in front it and then there's when I hit the car in front me. The police gave me this offence, FOLLOWING TO CLOSELY

Following to closely was proven by your inability to stop your vehicle in time. It does not matter that the vehicle in front of you was also doing the same, it is your conduct that is in question if you got a ticket. If you did get this ticket you need to get a lawyer to try to reduce the 5... View More

Yes the officer can ask any person in the car for their license. That being said in NJ you don't have to literally drive a car to be considered driving. I suggest if you would like proof of this that you look up the law on such tickets such as DWI or driving while suspended and see how... View More

So my license was suspended. I paid the restoration fee not realizing I had to go to deptford NJ DMV to get it completely restored. Well i got pulled over on February 18th and it still wasnt fixed. And now I have court for it. Can it be dismissed?

I doubt your ticket is going to get dismissed as you were in fact suspended on the day in question and it was your fault. I would say about 5% of all tickets today are mailed to people. the fact that some of the information on this ticket is wrong, does not invalidate the ticket, but will make it easier to try to defend it, especially if you were not driving the car at the time indicated on the ticket.
