the first thing i would do is contact the lawyer who represented me on the case.
s/he can go back to court and put the matter on calendar to have the sentence revisited and possibly modified.

your attorney can Amend the Complaint or refile it.........if the attorney did something wrong that prevents you from recovering you may have a Malpractice suit against him/her.

A Bench Officer has a lot of discretion concerning a recess.
However, no one on this list has all the info, and most people asking questions on the internet are naturally not the best historians.
If you are in trial, that is a question you should ask your attorney.
What did s/he say?

It sounds like your issues are more family law.........unless you were arrested and are being prosecuted.
Then you would need to make an appointment with a criminal defense lawyer or request the court appoint a public defender for you ...at the arraignment.

either retain private counsel or contact the Public Defender.
that attorney will ADD TO CALENDAR AND then request you be release OR without bail.

you might start by having a lawyer write a stern letter about his blackmailing you.
you can also contact the local police dept. However, you then bring into play what YOU did.

Call lawyers on this list that do Malpractice or google lawyers in your area.

there is often a difference in the evidence presented by a defendant and the DA.

you should contact a lawyer who handles both criminal and family law...or 2 separate lawyers.
are you going to have the baby?
if you know how to find the guy, then you have to decide what you want to do after consulting with a lawyer.
be careful as you have criminal exposure.

Easy....
you just retain a new local lawyer, and s/he will assist in the transition.
In an accident case, the 2 lawyers will split the fee.
In a criminal case, you would try to get a bill for what the lawyer has done and get the balance turned over to the new lawyer.... View More
