A defensive driving course can take points off your license. However, this will not get your DUI-related suspension reduced. Your best bet may be to get a temporary restricted license while you're waiting to be eligible for renewal.

Does the person have an out-of-state driver's license? Was there a chemical test performed (breath, blood,... View More

I was taking a trip to the gas station when I was pulled over by an officer. The officer's actions seem problematic. Better get a lawyer.

Q: Recently charged with a DUI. First time offender, blew .175 at the station. Do I need a lawyer or just go to court?

Left the restaurant early last night before I got too drunk. Pulled over for not using turn signal and not turning into first lane. Sobriety test in 40° weather then blew .16. At the station blew .175. Its my first offense, clean record. Do I need a lawyer? Would it benefit me?

My suggestion is usually the same, if you need a doctor for a surgery, then you will need a lawyer for court.

Call and hire a defense lawyer in North Dakota rather than allow a warrant that can impact your employment and housing options go unhandled. Attorneys like myself handle this exact situation every day.

Q: My husband just got a DUI. court is in one week. We are thinking of calling the cop involved to beg for mercy.

Would this be a bad idea? If he looses his job we loose insurance and our children have special needs. My husband rarely drinks. He blew low on the breathalyzer and this is his first dui offense. The cop was really nice during the arrest and helpful. We got a lawyer and are awaiting court. If he... View More

Listen to your lawyer. Calling the officer will have no impact, the case is in the prosecutor's hands. Most people who attempt to negotiate with the prosecutor on their own end up digging a deeper hole.

Your DUI charge and possible conviction obviously ended with the requirement of you completing a recommended course of alcohol treatment.
