Q: If my mom is in prison, will that affect my background checks?

My mom is in prison for benefit fraud and child abuse (not to me) but I had nothing to do with it, could it still affect my background checks and ability to work in the government?

People are generally free to forward mail anywhere they choose. However, where someone is required to report their actual residence / address, they must report their actual address (e.g., if someone is a registered offender).

Q: Can I record an incoming call to my personal cell phone even if I am not showing it to anyone?

If just to have for my own records, can I record incoming calls to my person cell phone or house phone?

No. Maryland law requires the consent of the other person to record a phone conversation. Sometimes consent may be implied if someone keeps talking after an announcement "this call will be recorded."

Q: My neighbor has several cameras pointed at my house with one pointed at my bathroom window. Do I have legal action?

I've asked him to move them and he says he can legally do what he wants.

Probably not. If the cameras are located on his property he can point them at any point he wishes for security.

If your son has filed a lawsuit against you; the next step is that he must serve it on you. He has the option to have the Sheriff attempt service. Q: Items were siezed from a Baltimore County home without a receipt. The co. will not return the items.

Who seized the items? How did they get in the home? These questions are important. However, as a starting point, you might want to call a police to file a report to start an investigation. If the police won't get involved, you will have to sue them in court.
