Center lane right of way issues are tough ones and will be heavily fact dependent. If you were fully in the turn lane before the other vehicle enetered the turn lane you may be in the right on this one. I would suggest talk to a lawyer to fully explain the details.

If he had permission, and if the owner had insurance, then that would cover a potential claim. If your firend had his own auto policy, or lived with a relative that did he could look to that policy if it had uninsured motorist coverage. He should talk to a member of the tennessee Trial Lawyers... View More

I was in TN on vacation with my family in a rental mini van. We were at a 4-way intersection but a 3-way stop but the stop sign only said STOP, it did not have a 3-way tag below the sign. I stopped for 30-45 seconds waiting to see who would go, no one was going at-all and no traffic was flowing... View More

In no place that I know of is there an automatic rule about tickets.
Not sure what the problem is. The rental car insurance would pay and only question is is it chargeable to you or is there a deductible.
Focus on where the other car hit. If you had full position should have been... View More

Are grandparent's pressing charges? He can be made to pay restitution. Chances are he won't be doing any time because no one will be able to prove he took money, and the rest doesn't get anyone sent anywhere.
He has a revoked like license and also totaled the truck.

He will want to ask the question of an attorney who handles criminal cases--he has a couple of serious charges he is looking at.. He should make arrangements to tow it or it will be towed at large expense.
I have insurance on my vehicles, but her mother doesn't always carry insurance on her car. Just to clarify. My daughter is 16. I didn't know if this makes a difference since she is a minor and still my responsibility.

You are only potentially liable for another driver if you are the OWNER of the vehicle. If you are divorced, there is no family relationship between you and your ex wife, so assuming that you wife is the owner ( that is, her name only in on the title certificate) then you could not be held liable.... It may mean that the police officer recorded the stop. Without seeing the citation, hard to tell. Consult counsel.
What is usually the consequences for this

If it's a parking lot not sure they can ticket you. Worth it to save on points to at least get a consultation from an attorney who handles traffic citations in the county where your citation is from.
For now, plead not guilty.

You are forced to junk title any car that has been totaled where you decide to keep it. There are plenty of gently used elderly vehicles that don't have junk title.
