If the trial took place in 2015, it is most likely that the judgment is now final and no further discovery would be permitted. You may want to seek a formal opinion from an attorney who can review the entire case and the issues of the case and render a formal written opinion to you.

Q: I have a disturbed woman posting false statements about me calling me a whore and using my business name.

This woman has also sent emails indicating that she wonders how much money I have and she wants to find out. In the post she says I have been married 5 or 6 times and broken up marriages every time. That I take men for money. Could I get a protective order?

Q: My daughters car is in her boyfriends name. She is the only driver & pays all payments & insurance. Her legal rights?

He has never denied this is her car & her financial responsibility. He does not drive the car. She has made all payments and it’s on her insurance. If they split, what are, if any, her legal rights to this car?

Q: Family land since 1800’s in Surry Va. Want to stop unlawful sale.

What can we do to stop sell of land. Heirs do not want to sell our land but the court is trying to force. All taxes are paid every year and we have roughly 45 acres. Heirs never had a dispute but courts seems to think so. How can we stop a sale we never asked for

Q: My vehicle was towed prior to 5:00pm from a service station parking lot on Monday. I went to pay recovery fee on Thurs.

August 1 and was charged $475.00 . Is this excessive for the commonwealth of Virginia. Upon questioning the company owner about the charges his reply was “Because I can!!!”

To leave. My landlord refused to release either of us from the lease in case the house was abandoned. I worked 2 jobs and paid by myself. I filed a civil case with the signed lease and bank records to prove payment of rent. Should i provide anything else to fight for half of what i paid?

Under the laws in Virgjnia, the landlord is not obligated to release either co-tenant based on a domestic relations dispute. Both tenant are jointly and severally liable for the rent.

Q: How do I remove a house guest within 24 hours. We had a 30 day verbal agreement that has since passed.

They pay no rent or help with the bills, and have been here three months. We mad a verbal agreement that they would be out by the end of June.

Generally under the laws in Virginia, you have a periodic oral tenancy. You must give a 30 day written notice to terminate the tenancy and if the tenant does not move out, you must sue them in court.
