Q: My driving record shows "supervision" for a ticket. Can my car insurance raise my premium?

I contacted my insurance and all they see is a ticket on my record. It does not tell them it is "supervision". They told me to send them my DMV driving record. My question is: does supervision = the insurance can legally increase my premium?

The insurance company will not see supervision on the general abstract. That only shows up on court purposes abstract.

Certainly if your rates get raised you can bring out this issue again. If you were hurt, contact a member of the Ill Trial Lawyers Assn--they give free consults. If not, you can try small claims.

Because you were insured at the time, you should obtain proof of insurance from the date of the ticket by calling your insurance company. A motion should be filed to bring the case back in front of a judge to show proof of compliance and ask that the ticket be dismissed. An attorney can assist you... View More

Hello Asker,

First of all, this is quite old so you will certainly want to hire an attorney for this case as it will require a motion to vacate the judgment. Typically, the court will not entertain a motion on a case older than two years and they prefer them to be within 30 days. Seeing...

Hello Asker,

With regards to this ticket, the court may entertain bringing it back into court but you would need sufficient documentation to prove you were hospitalized. You are also going to need an excuse for why you are only now addressing this matter. In practice, cases can be brought...
