It could be an error. You should go to the Clerk's office and have them pull the file. The judge makes a handwritten decision and you can see it.
Of course, I am assuming that you are saying that you went to court for the improper use of equipment charge in Maryland and it was... View More

It is impossible for any of us to know the reason the police officer issued the citation. You can request a trial within 30 days of the ticket and go to court. If the police officer does not appear, you will be acquitted. If the police officer appears, you can have a trial.
Do not request a... View More
Fault couldn’t be determined in the accident so it is my belief my car insurance will skyrocket.
answered on Oct 5, 2022
No, you cannot sue the police for failure to write a ticket. They have absolute discretion on whether to issue a citation. Regardless, issuing a citation does not determine fault. You can sue the other driver and your own insurance company if he is uninsured and if you win, your rates will not go... View More
I was told a traffic camera shows I did not stop at a red light. I have requested a court date however it has been over 2 years and a court date has not been set. Can I request the violation be dismissed due to the length of time for a court date? This is in Maryland, Prince Georges County

You can make a speedy trial argument, but you are supposed to demand the speedy trial for the clock to start ticking on your speedy trial rights. Having said that, there is no harm in making the argument. Any delays brought on by Covid will be excused.

It is unlikely you would be picked up on a bench warrant by going into a bank, but you never know. There are no guarantees.
Your best bet is to consult with an attorney to see if the warrant can be recalled. In some cases, an attorney can file a motion to quash a warrant.
Did not witness the accident or me traveling in the vehicle at all. Can I ask the judge to dismiss
answered on Sep 1, 2022
If there are no witnesses to the accident, plead not guilty and the judge should find you not guilty. Even if the police officer appears, that is not enough if the officer did not see the accident and there is no other evidence.
A park school bus turned on its stop sign while I was in the middle of the bus and the camera caught me driving past. I did not have enough notification to know to stop
answered on Aug 24, 2022
You have not posted a question. However, if the camera was able to record the front of your vehicle and its license plate, that evidence might refute your contention that you had already passed the front of the bus before its signs/signals were activated. Payment of the fine is tantamount to... View More

The serious charge was dropped (called a nolle prossequi). The remaining traffic offenses are now scheduled for the middle of October. You may wish to discuss this with a lawyer.

It means that any citation issue against you that called for a jail sentence was dismissed by the state and all remaining tickets can either be paid/satisfied before going to court or appearing before a judge and seeking a more favorable outcome.
We live in MD and my family was stopped for a routine traffic stop back in January. It was my husband, 14-yr old son, and I in the car with my hubbie driving. We were not far from home just coming from a quick dinner. As we were traveling downhill, we were followed then pulled over for speeding... View More

It’s impossible to advise you based solely on these facts. Your husband needs a lawyer, and the best thing he can do is hire a good criminal defense lawyer. The lawyer will obtain all the discovery from the prosecutor and can better analyze the situation.

In Maryland, you can cross where there is an unmarked crosswalk. An unmarked crosswalk is an area where roads intersect, but there are no crosswalk markings. If there is a marked crosswalk at an intersection, you must use the marked crosswalk.
Was a ‘rolling stop’ according to officer

Yes, it is 1 point unless there was an accident in which case it is 3 points. Do not pay it. Request a trial and not a waiver hearing and go to court. If the police officer does not appear, you will be acquitted. If the police officer appears and you are convicted, the judge can still offer... View More

Shouldn't I be able to get this thrown out being that the law is justified by being literal... that's a huge loop hole..was the cop drunk? How is that possible?

These things are unlikely to result in a dismissal of the tickets unless you are claiming that it was not you. You should still request a trial within 30 days of the offense and go to court.

If you have a provisional license and are convicted of a moving violation, you must do driver improvement or the MVA will suspend your license. Yes, you will need to mount a front tag. Maryland requires both front and back tags. You can find someone to install the mount.

Maryland citations are now printed through a computer and your signature is not required. The ticket is valid.

Yes, you must stop for a school bus even if there is a turn lane. You do not have to stop if there is a median or concrete barrier.
School bus is stopped in far right and I am in the far left, do I have to stop?
answered on Mar 26, 2022
Yes, you have to stop. A divided highway is a road with an intervening space, barrier, or a clearly indicated dividing section constructed to impede vehicular traffic. A middle turn lane is not an intervening space.
