In New York, if you've been pulled over for lack of insurance and have pled not guilty, the next step is to prepare for your court appearance. Since you have a clean record and some proof of previous insurance, these factors may work in your favor. It's important to gather all relevant... View More
The cop ignored him. I was scared and a little tipsy so I started crying and the cop was like why are u crying it’s a ticket, I told him it was because of the man over there making me feel extremely uncomfortable (cop was recording me which I know was my friend describing what’s going on in it)... In such a situation, while the presence of a more serious crime doesn't automatically nullify a lesser offense, the context of your emotional distress and the circumstances leading to your fare evasion ticket may be relevant in your defense.

If you did not have full knowledge of the consequences of your plea at the time you made it. You could hire a lawyer and motion to revoke the plea and attempt to resolve the ticket a different way.

I received a yellow ticket for jumping the turnstile. In a panic, I provided a foreign fake identification with my correct name but false DOB (correct day and month but wrong year). The officer who issued the ticket did not write down any address, but he did write the ID # (which was also false).... View More

It is possible for authorities to connect the ticket to you despite the incorrect details, especially if you have a unique name. Law enforcement can use various data points to identify individuals, and partial matches, such as the correct name and birth date, might lead them to investigate further.... View More

First you need to make sure you clear up everything with the DMV, pay any fines and, if you need, turn in your plates. Once that is cleared up, you need to clear up your situation with the SCTPVA. You need to pay whatever default fines were assessed. Speak to a traffic attorney.

Did you resolve the ticket in 2022? If not, then you have a default. That is what likely caused your suspension. Resolve the ticket and you can get the suspension lifted.

In New York, it is generally required for a driver to use a right turn signal when turning right, even if they are in a designated right-turn-only lane. Using a turn signal helps indicate your intentions to other drivers and pedestrians, promoting safe and predictable driving behavior.

Yes. VTL 1144A is a 3 point violation. Points can raise your insurance, cause DMV assessments and, with enough, suspend your license. 1202(b)(2) is a parking ticket. This carries no points. The fine might be higher but, in the long run, not having points is a better deal.
I was stopped last year by officers on my way to work for malfunctioning headlights, and I attempted to fix the issue by purchasing a new bulb, which I was about to install when I realized that the existing bulb simply needed proper screwing. As soon as I secured the existing bulb, it lit up.... View More

If this was only an equipment violation, your license will not likely be suspended. Also you will lose any appeal. Pay the ticket an move on.
I got a speeding ticket (15 miles/h above speed limit) and I plead not guilty. Subsequently, I received a letter requesting me to complete an online course, which I successfully completed. Now, I have received a Plea Reduction letter, which allows me to enter a guilty plea to the following charge:... View More

I am not sure why you were asked to take the course and got a fine if you pled not guilty. Regardless, the reduction is from a 4 point violation to a 0 point violation. No points is good. 4 points could result in a higher insurance rate, a DMV assessment and, if you accumulate 11 points, a... View More

Unless this speeding ticket aggregates more than 11 points on your license you need to send in a plea of eiother guilty or not guilty. If you plead guilty they court or agency (depends on the county or town) will send a bill for the fine. If you plead not guilty you will get a court date to... View More

Why would they say I need to go in person for a stop sign ticket if I already pled filthy and said I’d pay? Would a lawyer make sure I don’t go to jail?
answered on Jun 29, 2023
It depends on which court the ticket is filed in. Assuming you got this ticket in NYC, they want you to come to court to decide whether to suspend your driver's license for too many points.
Ticket. I thought they made you go to court only if you pled not guilty. Have you ever seen this? Do I have to hire a lawyer now?

Technically you should not have gotten a court date. However if you have priors, or open tickets they can require a hearing. But this might be a blessing. You can negotiate the plea and get a better deal.
