Q: Will wrong licence plate number on tickets help me get it dismissed?

I got 2 tickets in Woodbury, NY, one for going 63 in a 30 zone, and another for speeding unresponsible and prudent. But I noticed a totally wrong licence plate number on both ticket as well as on the supporting deposition.

Will that help with anything?

Where are the tickets returnable at? If the license plate is off by a digit or two, that probably will not make much of a difference if the rest of the information on the ticket is correct. The cop gave you 2 separate speeding tickets? Call an attorney for a consult.

Q: Do I have enough to fight this speeding ticket in court?

Driving 80 in a 55 on palisades in Rockland county. State cop pulled me over and stated he had me at 80 but saw me slow to 65 when I saw him and wrote the ticket for 65 in 55 zone. Ticket is charged based on Officers “direct observation” and speed verified by “pace.” Does pace mean he... View More

You will lose. If the zone is 55, going 56 is speeding. The fact that he gave you a break by writing only 65 is a gift to you. Office would testify to his experience and his observation is based on that. BTW, 25 mph over is a 6 point violation. 10 mph over is 3 points.

This is to ensure that the driver can be properly identified for the purpose of issuing a traffic ticket. Refusing to provide identification can lead to further legal... View More

The traffic ticket defense attorneys here would be most knowledgeable on this, but your question remains open for a week, and you probably have a short window in which to respond. In general, courts will usually correct small discrepancies in a ticket about vehicle details and move forward,... View More

This might be a difficult question to answer - that could be why it remains open. It's a little open-ended, instead of a specific issue, such as right-of-way in a traffic circle. Until you are able to consult with a traffic ticket attorney, another thing to keep in mind is the intellectual... View More

In many jurisdictions, one of the reasons you hire a lawyer is for the lawyer to appear in court on your behalf so that you do not have to take off from work to appear in court. Also, if you want to mitigate the impact of the charges (whch you should) then you should hire a lawyer to represent you... View More

It really depends on your history and the incident. Normally driving with a suspended license for the first time would not result in jail. You need to speak to an attorney.

Your license was not suspended for the violation, but for failing to appear at the traffic agency. When you sent in your plea a date was likely given. You needed to appear at that date and resolve the violation. You can retain an attorney to appear for you and get the case restored and resolved.

First you need to make sure you clear up everything with the DMV, pay any fines and, if you need, turn in your plates. Once that is cleared up, you need to clear up your situation with the SCTPVA. You need to pay whatever default fines were assessed. Speak to a traffic attorney.

Did you resolve the ticket in 2022? If not, then you have a default. That is what likely caused your suspension. Resolve the ticket and you can get the suspension lifted.

In New York, it is generally required for a driver to use a right turn signal when turning right, even if they are in a designated right-turn-only lane. Using a turn signal helps indicate your intentions to other drivers and pedestrians, promoting safe and predictable driving behavior.
