I was parked on a street in City of FW. I was parked legally on the street. I received a ticket saying vehicle was illegal. The sticker was stolen and I was unaware of it. I have proof of registration. DMV told me the car was legal and saw registration online as paid. If plate was run it... View More

Current registration stickers are stolen all the time, they are peeled off and put on another vehicle that isn't properly registered. You can protect yourself from this by cutting the sticker with a razor blade in a cross hatch pattern. Yes you were a victim of a crime and it is being used... View More

In most states you sign a promise to appear in court in lieu of being arrested for an infraction with a traffic ticket. It is important to read any ticket you receive and ANY document that you sign. There are traffic ticket attorneys working in all states, you should contact one to discuss your... View More
I have a CDL with a manual restriction. I just bought a car on Saturday, 6 days ago, that's a manual. I drove it across town, about 1.5 miles away, and he was giving me tips. I went to leave, exiting to the main road, I pulled the clutch out a bit too much and chirped the tires. There was a... View More

You should determine what the possible penalties are going to be and if this will result in any points on your driving record. (points are bad). There are traffic ticket attorneys that practice in all states. You need to consult an attorney in your local area that practices this kind of law. Thank... View More

It may be possible depending on what the ticket is for and the rules in Indiana for drivers under 18. Be sure to attend any Court appearances because otherwise you could have an FTA, which can result in a license hold or suspension and an addition fine; and even an arrest warrant being issued for... First, SLOW DOWN. People will die in a collision while you are going 100 mph, and you could be charged with vehicular manslaughter and in some cases murder in the second degree. A 35mph speed limit is there because of pedestrians, bicycles, driveways, dogs and children in the area. It is a... View More
He told me he had to draw up the paperwork and that he would have it sent to my address and to be looking for it so I know when to go to court, but he never had me sign anything at all. I thought you had to sign a citation so they know that you will be there. Was he letting me go without telling me... View More

I can't answer for sure whether or not you'll get one but as a general rule I'd argue best practice here would be to go ahead and contact the police station or local court clerk to see if one was issued. It seems to me it'd be worse and probably more expensive on you missing... View More

Driving offenses can stack up quickly if one is not careful. Generally speaking, the progression moves from multiple driving while suspended as an infraction, to multiple driving while suspended as a misdemeanor, then being declared a Habitual Traffic Violator as a felony offense. Do whatever you... View More

Just because the warrant expired does not mean that the case went away. The case is likely still pending and the prosecutor could ask for the warrant to be reissued at any time. You are well advised to take this opportunity to try to resolve your case. If you have not been fingerprinted and... View More

You can file a petition to waive reinstatement fees, but it would be wise to also discuss your record with a criminal defense attorney to see if anything can be cleaned up on your record.
The officer has put my first name in the last name box, my middle name in the first name, and my last name in the middle initial. All the other information is correct. I live in Illinois, and I have Illinois driver's license.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that your ticket will be dismissed if this is the only incorrect information. Transposing your name will likely be considered what is called a “scrivener’s error”. Prosecutors will probably be allowed to amend the ticket to reflect your correct name. If you have... View More
Occurred in Whitestown, Indiana. Will put 2 points on driving record. The deferral will cost $80.50 more than the ticket. If no citations in a year, then the case will be dismissed. I am assuming dismissal will mean no record of speeding or the ticket and no points on driving record.

answered on Nov 8, 2022
Your options are to pay the ticket and have a conviction and points on your record as well as the possibility of your insurance rates increasing. Take the deferral option, stay out of trouble and the case gets dismissed and the BMV will never know of the ticket. Though if you do get another... View More

If your friend had insurance, the accident is covered.
If your friend didn't have insurance, you gave your friend permission to drive your car, knowing that it was uninsured so you are responsible for all property damage and/or personal injury that resulted. Whether you were driving... View More

Expired plates should not add any points to your record since it is not a moving violation. If you have already renewed your plates; I suggest contacting the prosecutor's office and provide them proof. The prosecutor may be willing to dismiss the case for you being in compliance.

It can be used to attack credibility of the witness, however unless there is something more, as long as the witness is accurate with everything else, including identifying the defendant as the violator in Court, it most likely will not be enough to help the defendant.

If the suspension ended in 2014 then there should be no reason it would prevent you getting a license. However, there may be a reinstatement fee. Also, there could be other reasons preventing you from getting a valid license. If you do not have a myBMV account, set one up and look at your... View More

You would be responsible to pay the ticket since you were the one who committed the infraction. However, the company would have to send proof to the BMV on your behalf to show the vehicle was insured. If you pay the ticket, it will put points on your record and could cause your own insurance... It depends on the person's status with the BMV. IF they are suspended-infraction, then they will continue to get tickets and not criminally charged. Though, if they plead to one of the DWS tickets, the status will change to DWS-prior and the person could be arrested and criminally charged.
