You need to go to the clerk's offices at the court(s) involved and get the release to give to the BMV.
I was rear ended at a stop light. At the time of the accident, we exchanged information. She told her insurance company I negligently operated my car and it was my fault. The cops were called but they wouldn’t come. My only witnesses are my young kids. The following morning I was told by my... View More

I was hit by a semi in the back of my car which turned me sideways and then pushed down the highway for several minutes. The police report stated they couldn’t determine who was at fault even though the driver of the truck stated he didn’t see me. I am still paying on my vehicle so I had full... View More

An Ohio attorney could advise best, but your post remains open for two weeks. It's terrifying to think that an eight-month pregnant woman with a six-year old child in a car small enough not to be seen from the cab of a truck was pushed down the highway for minutes. If you reached out to Ohio... View More

Likely, you should give your insurance company a call and they'll get ahold of his insurance and sort out your property damage claim. If you end up with a bodily injury claim, then a good Plaintiff's attorney will be able to help you out.
She was not invited. Should I not allow her to leave, or will it come back on me if something happens?

You should 100% always allow people to leave, particularly a young girl. The idea that you should prevent a young girl from leaving when from what you've mentioned here, has caused no damage but passed through on a golf cart, is terrifying.

An Ohio attorney could answer best, but your post remains open for two weeks. Generally, insurance is designated for a particular car. Unfortunately, it doesn't ordinarily follow the driver. Good luck

answered on Jun 16, 2020
That’s not how insurance works. The injured party still sues you. You’re supposed to report the claim to your insurance and they then step in and take over the case. Not telling them about it is a reason to deny coverage. You need to contact your insurance and find out if you’re too late.

Since she had and didn’t use insurance, she has failed to mitigate her damages and could should have some trouble if you argue that in court.
