They currently reside with me in Tennessee but I only have notarized papers from their mom that she obtained while incarcerated in Georgia but I was told that I still couldn't register them in school with those papers because they are from Georgia. Can anyone help me with this situation?

Attorneys are not allow to solicit business on this site. You should search for a child custody lawyer. I do not agree with the school system, but it may be easier to get custody of them in juvenile court than it is to deal with the school system. You don't mention the children's... View More

Your best bet is to get a really good attorney who can help you figure out how to best go about leaving or getting him out in a way that you can be safe. Talk to an attorney before you do anything.
He wants to be free from running all the time and his birthday is nearing really fast. But he's afraid that in the state of Tennessee (Chattanooga) they won't leave him alone until he's 19. Can he come out of hiding at 18 or will they just keep trying to come after him. Ps he... View More

The answer depends on how he was committed to DCS and specifically which facility he ran from. If he was committed to DCS because he committed a delinquent offense, then the juvenile court can exercise jurisdiction over him and keep him in DCS custody until he turns 19. If he ran from a YDC, he... View More

You can contact the Board of Professional Responsibility. They have a consumer complaint resolution process to help legal consumers. Best of luck!
Are there different charges for intercourse as opposed to other actions, and if so what are the differences?
What age (compared to 22) does the class of the felony increase?
answered on Jan 11, 2018
I am not sure what other actions you mean. Mitigated statutory rape applies to an adult engaging in "sexual penetration" of a minor who is at least 4, but no more than 5 years younger than the adult and is at least 15. Aggravated statutory rape is sexual penetration by an adult who is... View More
Me and my daughter are facing homelessness. I have asked my ex-husband for help over the years but he refuses. He tells me he isn't paying my bills. He buys her clothes once or twice a year and calls his job done. His reason for never paying the ordered support is he doesn't want me... View More

If he is ordered to pay child support and hasn't paid then he could be ordered to pay back for at least five years. Was your daughter included in the divorce and did he raise the issue tha the is not the bio dad? You should consult an attorney to evaluate all of the facts and advise you as... View More

Filing for child support does not automatically give him any custodial or visitation rights. However, if he asks the court to grant them, then the court is likely to grant him at least supervised visitation. You should consult an attorney to look at all of the facts and advise you.
Not my friends children. They are fathered by someone else. How to get this dropped?
answered on Jan 11, 2018
How is it that child support was set without him telling the court that the children are not his? He should definitely contact an attorney to advise him. If he is facing criminal contempt, he can ask for an attorney to represent him if he can't afford one.
I live in T.N. he is in Maine

Where is the child now? How long have you been in TN? You should, as my colleague said, contact an attorney to discuss all of the facts and discuss your legal options.
Have not divorced yet. She is now pregnant with the other man. Do I still need to get a DNA test done to prove the child is not mine?
answered on Jan 10, 2018
Yes, you will need DNA to disestablish paternity. Until you disestablish paternity, you will be the legal father of the child.
he removed himself from the public high school and enrolled himself into adult high school to finish his credits. he lives with his mother and works part time. am i still obligated to pay child support?
answered on Jan 10, 2018
As long as he is on tract to graduate before he is 19, then you are still required to pay. If not, then when his class graduates (in May?) then you can ask to be relieved of child support.
answered on Jan 7, 2018
No, a new law passed in 2017 limits back child support to five years.
answered on Jan 7, 2018
You can when you turn 18. Until then, you will need your parents permission or to ask a court to emancipate you. In order to be emancipated, you will have to be able to show that you are capable of supporting yourself financially, living independently, and making mature, adult decisions.
How can my fiance get custody of his daughter without a lawyer? What are some things that will help him? First, there is no answer for how to change custody without a lawyer. Short of going to law school and learning how to function in the legal system. Second, you need a lawyer to help you with this. If money is the issue, many will work with you on a payment plan. Third, trust but verify is a... View More

answered on Jan 6, 2018
Eventually, it would be dropped if the officer doesn't sign it. However, I wouldn't count on that happening. You need to have an attorney represent you on these charges. If you can't afford to hire one, ask the court to appoint you one.
My father is deceased. My Uncle said there is not a will and that he was required by law to send me an affidavit to let me know my grandmother has passed. He said the affidavit means nothing. It depends on what representations you made to her in selling the dogs. If you told them they were healthy and had been verified healthy by a vet, then you might want to get that proof ready. She can try to sue you for the vet bills. If she does, you should consult a lawyer. Dogs get worms and... View More

The dog was theirs when they took it, I would say. As far as reporting you for animal cruelty, they can certainly do that, but that doesn't mean that you will be charged. The DA will ultimately have to make that decision.
