I purchased 3 dogs in the past 4 years. My ex gf and I separated. I brought them to see her at a store and she took them from me while I was in the store. I called the sheriffs office and they "so say" filed a theft report. I have the registrations and micro chips in my name and I know... View More

The question here is ownership. If ownership is an issue, the police don't (and won't) make that determination. You will need to file suit to retrieve the dogs. You need to consult with an attorney to determine your rights and your likelihood of success, along with the cost of doing so.... View More

She has never had a job, therefore couldn't have purchased them and the micro chip and registrations are in my name. She took them without permission and will not five them back. The local authorities will do nothing about this saying it's considered a civil matter. Yet, a pet is... View More

Not worth suing her if she has no assets. If you got her from a service, notify the service. Otherwise avoid her like the plague.

Why would your ex wife have your dog? If you gave her the dog to watch while you were out of town, she's going to say the dog was a gift. You don't have to change the license with a dog to manually donate the dog to another person. You will have to a small claim suit and it will be a... View More

Get the old Vet record to prove neglect. Is the dog a purebred or mutt? If a mutt, the worst she can charge you with is theft of $1.25. If a pure bred but spayed, also no monetary value. Tell her if she tries to accuse you of theft, then you will file a criminal charge of neglect.

You can't leave your pets in someone else's home if they don't want them there. You need to come home immediately and take the 6 felines to the Humane Society since you currently can't care for them. By law you can only have 5 cats in a home. Cats need to be neutered and given shots annually.
