Your son should hire a local defense attorney and follow his or her advice. The statute of limitations on a felony charge is 6 years so while 2 seems like a long time, it is far from being precluded.

Yes. It's an M1 which carries a maximum sentence of 180 days jail. That said, very few people go to jail over DUS charges.
My son have accidents and he is 17 years but the cop put my name by mistake and use whiteout on the ticket.
I wasn’t able to show proof during my traffic stop, officer told me to provide proof when I pay my ticket. I got insurance after the fact, how will that effect what happens when I go to pay my ticket?

If you cannot show proof of insurance on the date on the ticket, the BMV will suspend your license for non-compliance.

The warrant relates to the car as owned at the time when it was issued. Therefore the popo does not need to get a new warrant for a vehicle that transferred ownership while under the original warrant.
He failed to appear in court for that.

The police do not have to run your registration before asking you to step out or before asking to search though they generally do. You do not have to consent to the search. But you do have to get out and provide your information.

While you should ask a lawyer in Australia, technically, this seems like it is almost certainly a scam.
Will he have to show proof of insurance in court or will it be thrown out? There were no injuries but both cars totaled. The ticket said the offense was "stop sign". It also says he does not need to appear in person. Can this be thrown out without showing proof of insurance?

Tickets with incorrect names on them do not get thrown out. They get corrected. He is going to get a license suspension from the BMV for not having insurance.
