In order to clear up the confusion, and best protect your rights as a victim, you (and your SO) should contact an accident or injury lawyer in your area to discuss the specifics of your case.

You might be able to do so, however, the fact of the collision does not help your defense. My recommendation is to contact a traffic ticket/criminal defense lawyer in your area, and when you meet with them, bring the video and discuss your options at that time.

At this point, you could reach out to an attorney who handles motor vehicle accidents to look into exactly what happened here in terms of coverage. You mention a public defender, which indicates a criminal action... View More

You need to talk to a competent attorney about asset protection and exemption rights in whatever State you are going to live in. The exact Deed Grantee will be critical, and you need that lawyer to tell you what to do. Sometimes trusts are useful, but probably not here. The lawyer's... View More

I tied to qualify for public defender however, my pay would not allow it. I had my first appearance on the 29th. All the judge did was ask if I had an attorney, and since I did not he rescheduled my date to March. Why did it get rescheduled? Is he implying that I should get a lawyer?

As for your court dates, yes the Court is implying you need lawyer. Typically, if you don't have a lawyer when in Court...

First, if you were hurt contact a member of the Colorado Assn for Justice for the county where it happened--they give free consults.

Technically, you can file either where it happened or where they do business. I'd go for the county where it happened.

Depends on the state. If you didn't hit her rear end see if there is a security cam image of the event. Do this ASAP as they will usually get rid of all images after a certain period.
