Q: I am 17 years old and got a ticket for obstruction of view, do I need a parent to be in court with me?

And will I get insurance points

Also I have a court appearance date I wouldn’t need a parent for that if I’m 17?

No you can go to court yourself and pay for the ticket if that's what you want to do.

Q: I received a running stop sign ticket in the mail and wasn't in the state that day which I can prove. What should I do?

I plan to fight the ticket and represent myself in court. Someone else may have been driving the car but it definitely wasn't me. What can I expect from the prosecutor? Thanks

Probably a trial or an unsafe driving ticket which will have $450.00 -$550.00 in fines but no points for a first or 2nd time offender.

If you are found guilty the minimum penalties for a leaving the scene of an accident start at a 6 months loss of your license up to 30 days in jail and a fine. If someone was injured the penalties only go up from that point and can include more jail time and loss of your license and this is just... View More

Q: Open container.

Husband got open container/empty with two 6 packs in a commercial vehicle. He received two tickets which had been paid. Is that it? It was in PA and lived in NJ. Anything else to happen? I guess it is not a DUI.

Yes a difference. with the driving without ever being licensed your looking at possible jail and a suspension of your license when you eventually get it an expired license is generally just a fine if you get your license renewed before court.

It is a no MVC point ticket but your insurance company may still assess insurance eligibility points. With your record you may want to try the case and see if you can win.

All I see right now is that under title 39:3-61a it still states that only 2 lights and lamps are needed. Can someone share a bit of knowledge on this? Is there a way to see the amended law if there is 1.

It will not likely get dismissed because tickets in New Jersey do not get dismissed on basis of technicalities. If cop shows up to court to identify the person who ticket was issued that they'll be allowed to amend the complaint.
