DEAL WITH THE TICKET. No good will come of anything else. MA has reciprocity so the outcome there will impact you here. MOST of the NY courts are closed due to covid depending on the Court or the hearing date. You want a NY lawyer in that county jurisdiction or to use google and find the path....Read more »
That is not at all normal, and may work to help you. SAVE the envelope it coms in, as MA statue ch. 90c sec 2 requires them to issue it in hand at the time and place of violation and if not it can be dismissed. There are few exceptions and you don't say what you were stopped for. Save a copy...Read more »
The question says it all. 23-Year-old goofball went on a cross country trip and got 3 speeding tickets, paid them all late. We are terrified that the punishment from Mass will be harsh. What awaits us? Do we need a lawyer?
I got pulled over about 5 months ago for speeding and I still havnt received a date for a court hearing. My car registration just expired and I need to renew it. Will I be able to renew it while waiting for the court hearing or will the ticket prevent me from renewing the registration?
You can absolutely register the car!! The pending speeding ticket will not prevent this. Many ticket hearings are backed up due to Covid. Be sure you sent it in on time, kept a copy of the ticket, and know what court to call if you dont hear from anyone within the month. You should have heard from...Read more »
WHether you can is very different from whether you will. That is, the maximum pubishment for many motor vehicle violations or district court cases might be 2 1/2 years. However, that is not at all what a person might be likely to get. It might depend on the record, whether the person is on...Read more »
I wanted dismissed if possible, but i'm not sure if it's worth it. I was at fault so what would i say in court? I was driving and passed a red light that changed just before i past it. is the officer telling me that he's not going to appear in court? i've had my license only for... Read more »
APPEAL THE TICKET!! There are a number of very important reassons to take the appeal. First, you are under the age of 25 and in the age bracket where there can be larger SDIP points assessed or possible surcharges on a policy. Second, if you have 3 speeding tickets or 5 overall moving violations...Read more »
For the past year the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles has been entering out of state infractions that were not transmitted to the state electronically. Connecticut likely sent mail to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles but it never got opened. As the keeper of your driving...Read more »
They found a license plate on the side of the road and they want to display it in their room. Again, my friend isn't going to drive with it, they just want to use it as a decoration. I'm in Massachusetts if that's any help. (02191 is my zip)
There isnt really a question here. However if you appeal the ticket and go to the clerk's hearing there is a decent chance they will give you a break if you havent had any driving infractions before, on the distracted driving aspect. However, there can be some complications with insurance...Read more »
It was on a two way back street. A police cruiser blocked one lane with a sign saying no through traffic. I used the opposite driving lane to safely get around the cruiser and enter the restricted street, but got a citation for marked lane violation. Do I have a case to contest?
You should take a picture right away if you can, and file the appeal. I would say that is a good case, since you lived or were going to one of the restricted addresses you should have been permitted to travel. usually they stop traffic on one end and rotate the travel each way. So long as you did...Read more »
If it is a warning then you didnt need to do anything further. If it was a citation and you needed to pay a fine, and did not then you would have been notified of a license suspension. If it was a motor vehicle traffic offense that was also a criminal offense and you didnt show up, then a warrant...Read more »
Usually they are the same. A moving violation is any offense that happens while the car is being driven.Moving violations contribute to SDIP insurance point and license suspension calculatios. So, speeding, marked lanes, failure to keep right, etc are all moving violations. Some moving violations...Read more »
I had been unaware of the suspension till I was pulled over a few weeks ago. i was not arrested, the officer allowed me to call a friend to come get me. after so research i was able to find out why it was suspended and paid the bill. After doing so i was told that everything should be all set.... Read more »

Hello i was at the court today to fight my speeding ticket and the magistrate found me not guilty of the passing violation but for the other section "speeding rate of speed exceeding posted limit c90 17" he reduced the price from $335 to just $100. so the ticket was for $440 but ut came... It is possible you may still be assessed SDIP points, but certainly not as many. Whether you receive any points depends on your prior driving record. No surcharge points are assigned to the first minor, non-criminal traffic law violation in the operator's policy experience period usually. A...Read more »
Yes. If you are asking whether a warning issued to you is tracked, it is. It doesnt get you SDIP points or consequences, but if you get too many you will likely get an invitation from the RMV to attend a recidivist driving education program most likely. I have never heard of this happening to...Read more »
My daughter only had a driving permit when she was pulled over on 7/4/18 and was given a "Criminal Application" because she was not with an 18-year old with a license. No- when you get the notice from the Court telling you the date and time to show up for your hearing with the clerk- magistrate, do it. Plan to arrive at least 20-30 minutes before the start of your ticket hearing too. They will expect you.
