I've only had my license for about a month, so the record is clean, but I was also on the highway, does that affect it?
answered on Jun 5, 2021
You may be looking at criminal charges, fines and court costs, as well as points on your license. Hire a traffic attorney to help you with this matter.
I have got a speeding ticket on April 2020 and was ready to pay for it as soon as it shows up on case.net. But it's been more than a year and the status stays "Case is still with PA". How long should I wait before it gets updated?
answered on May 3, 2021
The statute of limitations in Missouri for misdemeanors is 1 year. That means the Prosecuting Attorney has up to 1 year from the date of the incident to file the charge against you. If it says "Case is still with PA" that means the Prosecutor has filed the charge but the court clerk has... View More

More details are needed, but to me the obvious answer is to hire him a competent or better criminal defense/traffic ticket lawyer who practices in the area where the prosecution is taking place and get this matter resolved. Use the Find a Lawyer tab and search for criminal defense/traffic ticket... View More

It's possible that the police officer was driving by and saw your car parked in front of your house and saw that you didn't have a state license plate and issued the ticket by mail.
If all the information on the ticket is incorrect (make and model of car is wrong, location is... View More

You can hire a traffic ticket lawyer to get your ticket amended to a non-moving, no-point infraction that won't cause points to be added to your driving record, and it won't cause your car insurance rates to increase. You won't have to appear in court if you hire an attorney to... View More
In 2012 I got 2 tickets from a state patrol officer. It didn't have a court date so I forgot about it. In 2016 I went to renew my license and they said it was suspended. I was told that it would go away after 10 yrs. It's almost ten yrs I need to license a car do i have to pay that or can... View More

You posted this in California. If you are asking about MO, you need to post there. If this is a CDL, pay the tickets to remove the suspension.

No, your insurance will not increase before the court date. The insurance company is allowed to review your driving record once a year (or every 6 months if that's your renewal period for your insurance policy), or when you buy a new car. If you hire an attorney to get your speeding ticket... View More
Company paid ticket then I got letter of notice to appear. Ticket is paid do I have to appear Hannibal Mo
answered on Mar 8, 2021
If your employer paid the fine for a Hannibal red light camera ticket, then that means 2 points will be added to your driving record. (The amount of CSA points may be higher.) If the fine has been paid, you should not be required to appear in court.
If you don't want the points on... View More

Yes, if you have a CDL and you get a speeding ticket, points will be added to your driving record. CDL-holders have a separate point system called CSA points, which is different from regular license holders. If you have a CDL and you receive a speeding ticket, you can hire an attorney to get your... View More
They blamed Covid, but there was no notification and I missed work to be at court. I disagree with the ticket and now will need to take more time off whenever the ticket is entered and they set a new date. Am I guaranteed a speedy trial and if so, can I get this ticket dismissed. Had I missed... View More
answered on Oct 16, 2020
No, you can't get your ticket dismissed based on what you have stated. If you had missed the court date, the court would have mailed a letter to you to remind you that you missed your court date and would have re-set your court date on a future date. If the Prosecutor hasn't filed the... View More
I received a summons for failure to proceed with caution from the MO HP on 10/19/19 and I plan on fighting it if necessary. I just received notice for a court date in February 2021. Will the statue of limitations have passed prior to my court date and if so, how do I go about getting my case... View More
answered on Oct 12, 2020
Your summons is timely. I suggest you hire an attorney to try to get the matter settled as a no-point, non-moving violation so that your insurance rates do not increase. Or you could defend the case on the merits if you are confident that you will prevail.

No, the police officer can make a lot of mistakes on the ticket and it is still valid. Errors on the ticket can be corrected by the police officer or prosecutor at any time, up to and including the date of trial. If everything is wrong, including the address of the location where they pulled you... View More

Your reason for using the uninsured vehicle is not a legal defense to the charge. Hire and attorney if you can afford one. This is serious.
With no court date do I have to do anything?
answered on Jul 1, 2020
Your choices are:
1) go to court and plead guilty, then the judge will sentence you and determine the amount of the fine. 4 points will be added to your driving record if you plead guilty to "No Insurance" and you will have to pay a fine and court costs,
2) go to court... View More

They should but not doing it doesn't make it invalid. Plus they'd just sign it reissue it. Focus on the ticket. That would be a points violation so if points are important, consult with an attorney who handles tickets in the court where the ticket will be heard.
This is not the first time this has happened.

What is your legal question? You've indicated that your tags are expired. If so, then I don't understand why you believe the ticket was improper. Please clarify so that you might receive a more helpful answer.
If so, should I obtain a lawyer to fight that?

If you plead guilty to a speeding ticket for driving 17 miles over the limit, yes, points will be added to your driving record. In addition, your insurance company may use it as an excuse to increase your car insurance rates. You can hire an attorney to get your speeding ticket amended to a... View More

I'm so sorry for the loss of your son, and for your question remaining open for four weeks. At this point, maybe you could contact an attorney or investigator in Missouri to retrieve the file and review it. With sympathy, good luck

I have an Iowa CDL and the violation occurred in Hannibal, Mo.
