Q: Hello I'm a 16 year old and I got a citation that was for 26 over, this my first citation, what could I be facing?

I've only had my license for about a month, so the record is clean, but I was also on the highway, does that affect it?

Q: MO speeding ticket not updated in Case.net since more than a year. How long it stays active before it gets canceled?

I have got a speeding ticket on April 2020 and was ready to pay for it as soon as it shows up on case.net. But it's been more than a year and the status stays "Case is still with PA". How long should I wait before it gets updated?

The statute of limitations in Missouri for misdemeanors is 1 year. That means the Prosecuting Attorney has up to 1 year from the date of the incident to file the charge against you. If it says "Case is still with PA" that means the Prosecutor has filed the charge but the court clerk has... View More

It's possible that the police officer was driving by and saw your car parked in front of your house and saw that you didn't have a state license plate and issued the ticket by mail.

If all the information on the ticket is incorrect (make and model of car is wrong, location is...

You can hire a traffic ticket lawyer to get your ticket amended to a non-moving, no-point infraction that won't cause points to be added to your driving record, and it won't cause your car insurance rates to increase. You won't have to appear in court if you hire an attorney to... View More

You posted this in California. If you are asking about MO, you need to post there. If this is a CDL, pay the tickets to remove the suspension.

Andrea Rogers
answered on Mar 9, 2021

No, your insurance will not increase before the court date. The insurance company is allowed to review your driving record once a year (or every 6 months if that's your renewal period for your insurance policy), or when you buy a new car. If you hire an attorney to get your speeding ticket... View More

If your employer paid the fine for a Hannibal red light camera ticket, then that means 2 points will be added to your driving record. (The amount of CSA points may be higher.) If the fine has been paid, you should not be required to appear in court.

If you don't want the points on...

Yes, if you have a CDL and you get a speeding ticket, points will be added to your driving record. No, you can't get your ticket dismissed based on what you have stated. If you had missed the court date, the court would have mailed a letter to you to remind you that you missed your court date and would have re-set your court date on a future date. If the Prosecutor hasn't filed the... View More

Your summons is timely. I suggest you hire an attorney to try to get the matter settled as a no-point, non-moving violation so that your insurance rates do not increase. Or you could defend the case on the merits if you are confident that you will prevail.

No, the police officer can make a lot of mistakes on the ticket and it is still valid. Your choices are:

1) go to court and plead guilty, then the judge will sentence you and determine the amount of the fine. 4 points will be added to your driving record if you plead guilty to "No Insurance" and you will have to pay a fine and court costs,

Q: I got a speeding ticket driving 24 miles over the limit, do the officer have to sign the citation to make it valid?
Peter N. Munsing

answered on Feb 22, 2020

They should but not doing it doesn't make it invalid. Plus they'd just sign it reissue it. Focus on the ticket. That would be a points violation so if points are important, consult with an attorney who handles tickets in the court where the ticket will be heard.
