Natural parent moving out of district. Signing over guardianship to the person still living in district. District is asking who will claim child on this years tax return. Does the district have the right to view either parent or guardians tax returns?

Absolutely. That is how they prevent the fraud of a non-resident student trying to get a better school.

I'm very sorry this happened to you. If you're seeking an attorney, it might be more productive to use the Find-a-Lawyer feature above. The Q & A format here is unlike an attorney referral service, where an attorney would come forth to offer services. The format here is instead geared... View More

It is difficult to answer the question without seeing any agreements the parties signed as part of their divorce and the judgment of divorce. However all things being equal, if the matter was brought before a court, there is a good chance that the court would allow the child to go to school in... View More
I'm a student at a CUNY college and during this Spring semester I took 5 classes and most, if not all, had math-related topics. This is a serious matter. Having admitted to cheating, you have few options. You must not admit to anything again, and find a way out of this that does lead to expulsion.

This involves a Nevada statute. There's no guarantee all posts are picked up, but there might be better chances of a response if you reposted under Nevada. Good luck

It would be best if an employment attorney took your question, but it remains open for four weeks. What impact will this have on my filing for unemployment benefits?
answered on Jun 29, 2020
Generally, when you resign voluntarily you do not qualify for unemployment insurance. However, under these circumstances, you could still file a claim. If your employer does not contest your claim, you will likely receive unemployment benefits. If the employer does contest your claim, you could... View More
Hi. Following up on first response from Michael Siegel. My case is an odd one. My kids were enrolled in the district where we all lived with my ex-girlfriend. After the breakup, I moved. Though there's bedrooms for them at my new residence, they've been staying for the majority of the... View More

If you have left your kids with a non-relative who is not a formal legal guardian, and left, you have more problems than the school. If child services finds out, they will open a case. Either maintain a legal residence with your ex-girlfriend, or make her a legal guardian. Do not leave this... View More

If they do not live in the town where they go to school they will be thrown out and must go where you live. While you might be able to phony up a lease, the issue is where they sleep at night. If the district finds out mid-year, you could be thrown out ASAP. If your kids spill the beans on the... View More

No. You were not discriminated against. You were just a victim of bureaucratic error. You have no contract with them just by applying. I see no case.
This is a contract for salary
not service. The school shut down the day of start of season
answered on Mar 19, 2020
You should read the contract. If it was well written there would be a force de majure clause. The clause let's parties out of the contract for events beyond their control.
The clause may not be in there, and there maybe clauses in your favor, but without reading the contract no real... View More

You have two choices. Get an IEP from the school district mandating tutoring paid by the district. Or, leave the private school. Private schools do not have to accommodate you on this point.

What does the IEP say about placement now? You need to have a private opinion from a psychologist that the placement in the IEP is wrong, and call an emergency CSE to amend the IEP. If the IEP is changed to require private school, you are good. Your expert might have to come and present his/her... View More

Why is it a crime? Because that is how the system works. If she has an IEP, you need to call an emergency CSE and get placement so there is no neglect. If she has no IEP, you must demand an immediate educational evaluation. Then, do whatever they say to save yourself. On dropping out, it is... View More
