Q: How can I get my Emotional Support Animal back?

I was released from jail after serving two months for a warrant out of San Francisco county. Animal Care and Control released my do to a rescue shelter but they won't tell me where exactly she is located. What can I do in order to get her back home?

You can't. Your dog is gone. You should have arranged for someone to take care of her while you were in jail.

There is too much information missing to answer you. How old are you? If you are at least 18 years old, you should be able to get your drivers license or California ID yourself. You can contact Kaiser directly to have your card issued to you if you are still eligible to be insured under your... View More

Q: what should I do to help a dog that I believe is still being neglected by its original owners?

So for the past 3 weeks this dog that we believed that was a stray, ie. it had no collar, has been visiting us at all hours of the day, 24/7. Around the third week, we took him into our house as we did not want him to get struck by a car during his daily trek to visit my dog. This stray was... View More

Call Animal Control. He's off leash so the owners are in violation of the leash law, and possibly mistreating him. You can attempt to adopt him through Animal Control if that's what you want.

To properly answer any legal question it is necessary to ascertain more information. It is like asking a doctor over the phone what your pain in the stomach is about and whether he could cure it. The Doc needs to get a more complete history, lab work, and X-rays etc.

I would strongly...

Q: Child abandonment or child neglect? Is the situation grounds for filing a case against the parents?

You can call CPS and the police to report child abuse/ neglect. More details are necessary to provide a professional analysis of your issue. Q: Is it okay for me to legally keep a found dog in my home?

Hello. I found a dog left in the park two days ago. I submitted a found dog form on PetHarbor.com. She had no collar, no tag, and has no chip according to the vet tech. Is it legally okay for me to keep her in my home until she is claimed/not claimed? I posted on Pawboost, PetHarbor, Nextdoor, and... View More

You are entitled to a reasonable charge for saving and taking care of the animal. This would likely include a reasonable daily kenneling fee and reimbursement of your veterinary expenses. If that is offered, you would have no basis to retain the dog, but if you allege neglect, it should then be... View More

You would have to consult with an Arkansas attorney about that. However, even if you could be included, the value of your case would be tremendously adversely affected by the lack of relationship between your father and you, at least that is how it would work out in CA.

Q: We have been dog-sitting for more than 3 months for someone who moved out of state. Do we have ownership of it now?

The owners said they will get him back after 2 months but it is approaching the 4th month. No, you don't have ownership of it, and evidence of the owner's poor care of the dog doesn't make you an owner. If the dog has been abandoned, you should notify the owner in writing that you will either assume ownership of it, or surrender it to Animal Control if not picked up by a... View More

If you are a US citizen, you need to start by filing I-130s for her and your step-child. He/she is your step-child only if you married your wife before his/her 16th birthday.
