You are liable for negligence. Whether a jury will rule that you were negligent in continuing payments for car insurance and gas and not taking away the keys or disabling the car cannot be accurately predicted.

Unfortunately the statute of limitations for negligence claims is 2 years. Claims against a Texas governmental entity also have special notice provisions. If you are past the two year time-frame, then it is likely that your claims would be barred.

Q: Can I be sued for a scary animatronic in my front porch?

I have a scarecrow that jumps up and scares people when they walk up to the door. We only use it for this month of October because of Halloween but can someone sue me because they get to scared or god forbid have a heart attack? If you're looking in Texas, I suggest checking the county property records and county court records to see if there has been anything. Most of it is public information.

Q: Can claim on my AD&D if cancer & injury has stopped my arm and hand from working?

A year ago i was put on short term then long term and ssi. June of this year, i was told by doctors my arm and hand would never work again. So most likely i will lose my job. Can i claim on my insurance i had and insurance my company had on me, like AD&D?

If you could repost or add categories, add Social Security and Public Benefits. You are correct in selecting Personal Injury, but you would probably get more meaningful input from an attorney who handles Social Security disability matters. Good luck

Contact the Texas Civil Liberties Union; ask for the Prison Litigation unit; ask them for the names of "cooperating attorneys " in the county where it happened.

Who beat him? Was it another inmate or the officials? Certainly if any civil rights violations were had then the responsible parties should be held accountable.
