1 Answer | Asked in Estate Planning and Probate for Pennsylvania on
Q: If it would cost me more to probate a will than I would actually get, am I required to do so? What are the implications?

My mother passed away last year, and we didn’t have any issues with inheritance, except for a 1099 showing dividends from an employee stock plan. The account is very small, so it would be more expensive to probate it then it’s actually worth. We’d like to simply ignore it, but we know we’ll... View More

Q: I am an 18 year old male who has experienced the negatives of the product. Can I get compensation for my hair loss?

My hair is thinning and I have a bald spot that recently appeared. Prior to some hair loss my scalp has been irritated whenever I touched my hair. This concerns the recent lawsuit involving Johnson & Johnson.

At your age you may wish to consider that having hair loss from whatever origin is unusual and you may want to consult an M.D. expert. Do not say you are interested in a case. Doctors don't like to be involved and you need a good diagnosis.

However to make a claim you need some reason...

The police might want more. If there is surveillance footage that would be useful. But why not ask them?

Q: My dad passed away in 2006. He did not have any money. There was no estate. Can I sue on his behalf for a tort?

The statute of limitations has not expired for a personal injury lawsuit against another party. I would like to file a lawsuit on his behalf. How do I represent him. Do I go to probate court to become the executor of his estate?

I'm not a Colorado attorney but the statute of limitations for any claim of his would appear to be long gone. Even a contract claim has a six year statute of limitations.

Check with a Colorado attorney as to the statute of limitations for whatever claim you have in mind, but before...

Police were called, but did not show up to the scene due to the fact that the other car had no damage. Police called me back and informed me just to exchange information with other party and file a claim.

See if the intersection had a camera or if any businesses did and ask them to keep the video and if you can have a copy.

The person pulling the U is at failt.

You have a claim, but easiest thing is if you have collision, run it through your company, let them go after the other...

We were given 30 days to move out, via a text message and during the move out some things were left behind. The landlord send my roommate a text message threatening legal action if we didn't get the stuff out. He couldn't even ask politely if it was just missed in the move.

So get the stuff out now. So he isn't polite--but he's not saying he had someone move it and is charging you. Get it done, ASAP. If the place is locked you need to make arrangments to get in to move it.

If it is directed at you for a specific attribute you can start with a group that assists those with that attribute--NAACP, Lambda Legal Defense, etc.

The DA's Victim Assistance Coordinator may be able to direct you.

Threats would be a police matter.
