Q: I came to the USA as child with a green card and obtained a us passport through my father. Iam not recognized as a citiz

I am not recognized as a citizen according to the social security administration. The issue is that I don't have any supporting documents other than a lost and expired us passport. They advised that I get an immigration lawyer.

Q: I adopted my Grandson in 2004 and he was born in Canada. We are now having trouble getting a proper ID for him.

He has a social security number. I was assured that he could get a US birth certificate after adoption, but so far, only a Canadian one is provided with the name change. Can you guide me to further steps? He is living in Florida, where the adoption took place. I am living in Virginia

Q: Can a green card holder apply for a green card for their spouse?

if i'm a green card holder and i want to marry someone who's staying here temporary (student visa) can i apply for a green card for my spouse, or only citizens can do that?

Thanks!

Yes you can marry and apply for the green card but the spouse won't be able to adjust his or her status here in the USA. The spouse will have to do consular processing, meaning do the visa interview in the home country. Only the spouses of citizens are permitted to adjust here. Good luck!

There is so much happening based on what you have indicated that it would be best if you found a lawyer to talk with. The USC can't be forced to go to the 751 interview and if he divorces you and sends the decree to USCIS the application is...

You should have a valid passport as the Embassy requires it. If your passport is invalid or almost about to expire, try to replace it immediately, perhaps using an expedited service at your country's passport office. Good luck.

Q: I just got my green card, is it too soon to file petition for my 19 year old daughter for change of status. We’re Irish.

My daughter has been here for 4 months & my green card just arrived last week. My daughter is unmarried & she’s here on B1/2 visa. I got my green card through petition by my son who was born here.

You can petition for her immediately. However, dependent on her visa type, she most likely will have to return home to get her green card as she cannot adjust in the USA if she falls out of status.

What do you mean when you say point of contact? A co-sponsor is agreeing to be financially responsible for the person here in America and your income and tax obligations affect that.

Your parents can petition for you as a married son or daughter. The result is a green card ie legal permanent residence. That process is very lengthy. You can find more advice at www.uscis.gov - family based green cards.

Unfortunately, DACA is not processing new applications. It is best to have the exact address or as close as possible. For example, you can find the zip code using the street address and so on. You can also check old documents for the addresses where you lived before.

There is no process. People can write or call the immigration authorities. I suggest that you and your wife make sure you have proof of the marriage to submit. This include things like copies of leases with both your names, joint bank accounts and so on. You have to prove that your marriage is real.
