you are posting this on a Criminal site.
if criminal the DA would be representing your interests if you could prove theft.
you should make appts with civil litigators........however, very few would handle this matter pro bono.
you might be more successful with Legal Aid or Aish Hatorah

i am assuming you could not find a WC lawyer...if you are by yourself.
That often means there is a problem with the case.
You are asking this on a criminal site and this is a WC issue, not crim.
answered on Mar 27, 2023
Strict liability refers to INTENT...........did the D have the Mens Rea/Intent.
usually the crime is so serious that the DA does not have to prove intent.....just that the D did it.

i think this is going to be an issue best handled by a family law attorney for the Domestic Violence Restraining Order.
you should make an appt with another lawyer to review the facts and determine if s/he would handle on a contingency or if you would have to pay a retainer.

Can the prosecutor use character evidence referring to the defendant's lies in the past to impeach the credibility of his testimony, when the defendant is being accused of premeditated, first-degree murder and the defense is trying to prove that the crime was committed by accident?
answered on Mar 25, 2023
Because the D did something bad in the past, is not enough to prove the D did the illegal act this time.
However, IF the D takes the stand to testify, then s/he is putting their credibility on the line. Then Prior Bad Acts can be introduced...unless the judge upholds an objection on... View More

no lawyer can intelligently evaluate your case with little information.
you should contact another lawyer to sub in. You can inquire of LOCAL lawyers on this site.
If the case has any value the 2 lawyers would share the fee.

if not, make an appt with a local family law attorney.
