Q: I'm being asked to have a guarantor in order to rent an apartment. Can a business be a guarantor or must it be a person?

I'm not referring to a business that acts as a guarantor for a fee, but a business run by an individual who I know personally. Does it have to be in the name of that person who owns the business or could it be under the business name itself?

It seems it would be at the discretion of the property owner. The fact the business owner won't do it personally certainly raises a red flag.

Q: Hello I work for a Fire department in El Dorado County. Our candidate we were endorsing died on Saturday.

We were told conflicting things. One that it goes to the next highest person with votes. Or if the deceased were to get the majority the seat stays open and there is a special election or board appointed. Can you please clarify.

Q: How long does a seller have to change their mind on a facebook deposit in California?

I advertised a piano on marketplace . i had someone put a deposit. I notified him within 48 hours that I no longer interested in selling . He is upset and is threatening action.

I am not familiar with the policy of Facebook Marketplace, but it seems unlikely the buyer would sue if you return the deposit. They could sue you for any damages ($) they incurred because you didn't go through with the sale but it's rarely worth it.
